    Claro prepaid plans unadvertised...

And on top of that, you can use the Claro Pay app. It is essentially a wallet like Mercado Pago for QR payments, etc. You can load your money there first and then pay for Claro services like buying packs or adding balance. This way, you effectively get a 50% discount. You pay the full amount...

These are special benefits for loading balance, described on Claro's website. So much for being "unadvertised."

What do American expats miss the most about living in America?

I guess those pork chops must've been 1,000× more delicious in the U.S. then? How far does your "deliciousness" scale go - into the trillions?

Argentine economists believe the US Treasury has already sold its pesos

Argentines were on the other side of the trade. Whether it was regular people or the central bank.

Argentine economists believe the US Treasury has already sold its pesos

Since each peso was worth more at the time of sale, the Treasury received more dollars back than it had spent, making a profit. Yep, they were supporting Milei and just happened to make some money along the way.

    Salsa and meeting new people

"Nobody likes it there" is probably a bit of an exaggeration - the place has its charm. But to be fair, even one of George W. Bush’s daughters had her purse stolen in San Telmo while under Secret Service protection. I guess that says something about the area.

I absolutely agree. That's the perfect way to notify people about email problems.

    Internet issue...

Google? Geoblocking Yahoo? Are you able to access your Yahoo email when you’re on the Wi-Fi here? Do it from your computer to get the Google factor out of consideration.

    Translator Devices

We are not there yet. It has to do speech-to-text, translation, and text-to-speech at the same time at a decent speed. These are three different models. And it has to work without the internet, have a screen, and be portable. Well, a gaming laptop with a decent NVIDIA graphics card might...

Soon to be expat has questions

If even ChatGPT says it, it must be the best possible option. On the other hand, if you plan to use a phone for business and will be spending several hours a day on calls, I wouldn’t rely on a free service that’s clearly labeled for personal/consumer use.

    Import/customs fees for clothing?

I'm under the impression that now you can bring in up to 3000 USD worth of goods per year for personal use without any duties, no?

    Meat question and pic

Well, have you ever been to one of these Chinese pay-by-weight places? :) Mollejas? Seriously? My bet is it was just a piece of pork rib without the bone, or some other nearby pork cut. And to the topic starter: if you’re looking for inspiration, get yourself a great steak somewhere and then...

Can anyone recommend a canned tuna?

You're probably buying the tuna that’s “desmenuzada” (shredded). What you want is the one labeled “en trozos” or “lomos”. Those have the bigger chunks. From the tuna cans sold in Coto, you should probably try La Campagnola.

Keeping US bank cards while living in Argentina?

I assume when it comes to dealing with people living abroad, some banks are friendlier than others.

Keeping US bank cards while living in Argentina?

The problem is usually with receiving, not with sending/forwarding. In the US, you are supposed to sign USPS Form 1583 with a notary for a company to receive your mail. After that, they forward it according to your instructions.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

Also, you can keep the plan but renew it before Tello charges you for the next month, and then your minutes and gigabytes roll over. You can even renew the same plan a day before your credit card is charged again.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

I didn’t know Tello had a "Pay as You Go" option. I haven't seen anything like that listed on their website. Did you have to contact customer support to get it added to your account, or was it something you were able to activate yourself somehow? I’m curious how you managed to get that set up...

    Pedidosya - Is it working?

I don’t want to say it’s always the case, but on a couple of occasions when I called restaurants directly, they quoted me a higher price than on PedidosYa. So maybe someone is losing that 35%, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you gain anything from it.
