Protest Against Milei’s Move to Scrap Film Institute, INCAA

If you're making a Keynesian argument about the economy being stimulated by government spending then it would make more sense to use that money to provide direct cash transfers to the poor. This provides some of the highest stimulation to the economy because they are most likely to spend it all...

Protest Against Milei’s Move to Scrap Film Institute, INCAA

The multiplier effect of putting $1 in an impoverished persons hands is 2.5x I rather give that dollar to a poor person than Adrian Suar plus the multiplier effect is greater.

Cleanliness of Palermo or Other Safe Neighborhoods

That's what I was referring to - dollar terms. Someone said it's not much cheaper so yankees can't take advantage any more. It's been incredibly expensive in pesos for a while now and will get even more so.

    Restaurants in Palermo

The specials at one random rsl club, whatever that is, in a small city in Australia versus one of the most hyped restaurants in the Capital city of Argentina. Bruh, come on 😂

Cleanliness of Palermo or Other Safe Neighborhoods

I still find it much cheaper than the US, outside of electronics, appliances, clothing. Do other people think it's not much cheaper? Curious if I'm the only one thinking this

Protest Against Milei’s Move to Scrap Film Institute, INCAA

Apparently INCAA doesn't turn a profit. In the last 4 years they spent around 11B Pesos and brought in little return. I do love the art and culture from Argentina, but it feels very elitist to argue that the government should spend money financing films and wealthy actors while 50% of the...

    Who can guess my cholesterol?

Congrats Steve! Are there not nutrients in fruits such as vitamin c that you're missing out on?

Protest Against Milei’s Move to Scrap Film Institute, INCAA

If INCAA is making a profit as you say then that is a very good argument.

Protest Against Milei’s Move to Scrap Film Institute, INCAA

I love the arts, but why should a country with close to 50% poverty be financing romantic comedies?

Is it a bad idea to open my laptop in the parque?

To add, there are many co-working spaces that you can join if you'd rather not work out of cafes.

    Restaurants in Palermo

You can't really blame these restaurants that are booked out for months to keep raising prices until demand starts to dip. Fortunately there are hundreds of other restaurants that have never been mentioned by the NYT that are just as good or better for a fraction of the price.

Does anybody know someone who day trades in Argentina?

For what purpose? Pretty sure you'll need at least temporary residence to open a bank account in Argentina. You'll open yourself up to taxes in Argentina too.

Is it a bad idea to open my laptop in the parque?

Definitely don't do it. Using your laptop on the subte, park or even at an outdoor cafe is crazy. I've seen on several occasions guys grab computers or phones from people sitting at outdoor cafes in nice neighborhoods.

    Suggestions for other towns

Good advice. Come visit and see if you like it. Everyone has different tastes. People need to keep in mind it's a major city. There is dog crap. The garbage can be a problem in some neighborhoods. For a major city it's fairly safe if you use common sense. Everyone I've known who has been in...

    Dollarization

You understand it. That's it. Government can't print pesos, which can help reduce inflation. A stable currency and monetary environment brings benefits. Google "benefits of a stable currency" and you'll see there are many. Antipodean started to discuss one of the benefits, that's why taxes...

    Who can guess my cholesterol?

I'm guessing it's good. Do you still only consume meat, cheese, eggs? I do believe those foods are healthy, but how do you account for vitamin c and some other nutrients?

    Dollarization

Inflation isn't caused by Argentine individuals not working hard. It's caused by too much money supply. Dollarization will fix monetary inflation. That's the purpose. It's not a fix all for the entire economy / society, and of course there are downsides too.
