Milei says Argentina has no right to the Islas Malvinas

Oh myyyyyyyyy! Those veterans are seriously steamed. Well, I knew it was going to happen. That is one sacred cow you just do not challenge in Argentina.

Milei says Argentina has no right to the Islas Malvinas

Anyone who says this does not understand the UNCLOS treaty, in particular the part about how EEZ may be extended beyond 200 miles by a continental shelf. Or the fact that the issue also encompasses what are called in English the South Sandwich Islands. Or the way in which UK possession of the...

1 in 4 renters forced to leave their home due to inability to pay rent

(roll eyes) Spoken like a member of the property-owning landlord class. It says right in the headline "economic eviction". In paragraph 3, Gervasio Muñoz, president of inquilinos agrupados is quoted as saying, "one in four tenants suffered economic eviction , which is how we put it, which has...

What is the food you miss most from "home?"

If I had access to a real NY Deli, I would go with a pastrami reuben and fries, with a big kosher dill pickle on the side. Not interested in sushi or lobster, you can keep the fancy stuff Jesus, yes, we gotta stop talking about this... AHHHHHHH!

Traders bet on weaker Argentine peso as Milei’s IMF deal looms

So, the article seems to suggest that the IMF will continue throwing good money after bad because Milei is a handy tool and willing to pimp Argentina to the highest bidder.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

The owner of my local dietetica looks more grim-faced every time I venture in to buy something. He's a hell of a good guy, and I feel really sorry for him, but he voted for Milei, and was loudly enthusiastic about Milei's presidency at the beginning. Now, not so much.

Does anyone else feel there might be a peso collapse this year?

Has that figure of 20 billion been officially confirmed now? Last I read this morning, Milei claimed it was 20 billion, but the IMF spokeswoman declined to confirm it, saying that the board of governors had yet to decide.

Does anyone else feel there might be a peso collapse this year?

This, exactly. Milei is a con artist with an ego the size of Texas, and a puppet of foreign interests. A cipayo of the worst sort. Hipolito Irigoyen said it 100 years ago, "I do not fear those outside who wish to buy us, as much as those inside who wish to sell us".

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

Maybe in your neighborhood, and if so, congratulations. It's not like that here. There's only one I know of, and they charge an arm and a leg. That said, I don't buy ready to eat food. I buy it raw and cook it myself, because that's all I can afford.

Ok, Luke, excellent observations Now, can you repeat that but in terms you'd use to explain it to a not-too-bright 14-year old? Try it, please. Just as an exercise.

Does anyone else feel there might be a peso collapse this year?

This has been mentioned before, but if they can afford to offer a 30% discount for using a certain method of payment on a certain day of the week, then yes, their profit margins are massive. And I do wholeheartedly agree that people deserve better.
