    Does anyone here volunteer?

I've tried some volunteering and haven't had a ton of success finding good volunteer opportunities. It seems like the food bank has some options, but they're way out in the zona norte. I spent a weekend volunteering with Techo building a little kit house for a guy who had been living in a...

    Looking for Philadelphia Cream Cheese

Seconding this response ^, and adding that Casa China in Barrio Chino sometimes carries it as well.

Whats the cost to move into an apartment these days? Rent 650,000

In my experience they generally require the first months' rent, a deposit equal to a month's rent, a garantía, plus a 20% fee to the agent.

    Papel Manteca / Parchment Paper

My question was equally a question about what brands' papel manteca actually work sas it was about where to get them, so just searching for papel manteca on ML or showing up to a gastronomic store without knowing anything about the brands wouldn't solve my issue.

    Papel Manteca / Parchment Paper

I checked Doña Clara's website, but I don't know if I'm ready to commit to 40mil worth of papel manteca, just in case it's not good. I'll check the other one, though, thanks!

    Papel Manteca / Parchment Paper

Reviving an old thread because I'm having the same issue finding papel manteca that doesn't stick. Any current favorite places to get the good stuff?

Immigration now open to handle citizenship applications as of Monday the 6th

It depends on what's happening in your immigration process. I think for most of the year nothing's going on for most people's immigration process.

How Does Punta Del Este Compare with St Tropez, Monaco, Marbella, etc these days?

Is it a nice beach city? Yes. Does it satisfy "a luxury European exclusive vibe, glamour, classy restaurants, nightlife, music, beach yoga"? In my opinion, no.

    Requirements for opening Dollar account?

My dollar account was opened automatically when I opened a peso account. If you have a DNI and a peso bank account, this should be as simple as going into your bank branch and asking for one, if you don't already have one in place.

Correo Argentino doesn't deliver mail to the USA

They also weren't delivering to the US for a while because of the tariff situation, the USPS and Correo Arg. systems weren't interacting correctly. I wonder if the postal worker was just misinformed.

Let's go for a walk through Villa 31

If anyone does want to visit Villa 31/Barrio Mugica without worrying about security, I can recommend the recorrido gastronómico organized by Ajayu Turismo Comunitario. It's organized by neighbors from the community, and in part of the tour the group has a police escort...

Thanks for posting this, I got a kick out of it! I also liked her "usted está en estación... otoño" video.

How did you rent before getting a DNI?

You can also look for temporary rentals on Zonaprop. That's how I found my place before I got my DNI, and was able to agree on a longer-term arrangement.

Permanent residency - how do they determine when you have hit the required minimum of temporary residency?

My understanding is that you have to have had formal temporary residency status for three years, so they count from the date you first received that status.

Open a local Bank Account in USD

I don't think you'd see the option to wire from the US within your Naranja X account, you'd see it in your US account -- unless Naranja X specifically says "we don't accept international wires".

    Donats in Buenos Aires

How were they? It looks like the doughnuts at Candy Moon are very toppings-focused, which isn't my preference personally -- on their IG they also called a doughnut with a hole in the middle a "boston cream", so do with that information what you will. Agreed that I've usually seen "donas", not...

    Women's/Mixed-Gender Cricket or Hockey groups

Does anyone know of women's or mixed-gender cricket or hockey groups that aren't part of the big (and expensive) athletic clubs? For what it's worth, I'd be a beginner to either sport, so I'd just be looking for a recreational team.

Where do American expats live in Argentina?

For what it's worth, the meet-up is at a sort of awkward time for people who work 9-to-5s/9-to-6s. I wonder if the 30,000 also counts digital nomads who stay here for a period that amounts to an extended vacation, which seems like a different category to me than "expats" who stay here for...
