Empty shopfronts on rise in BA as retail crisis deepens

Does online shopping have anything to do with it?

is there a way to get citizenship faster than having to wait 2 years with perm residency?

Yes, permanent vs temporary residency has nothing to do with it. There was always a lot of confusion and misinformation that you needed PR for citizenship even before Mileis knew DNU which was never the case. You can read the DNU yourself, just download it and if you don’t speak Spanish...

Vaca Muerta will demand more than 40,000 additional workers

Won't be long now till Argentina starts issuing oil dividends to its citizens like Saudi Arabia or Qatar 😂 Only half joking, but the newfound wealth from resource exploitation will be a big boost for the country

    Los que más tienen

To be honest I don't see the problem with providing public education for your citizens. The pretense being that this investment in their education will be paid back manyfold by them working higher skilled jobs and contributing back to the state with taxes in the future. I am curious if you...

    Los que más tienen

The universities would do well to start charging foreign students tuition. Foreign students study for free on the backs of the Argentine taxpayer, many of them, perhaps even most, return to their country shortly afterwards to work there without contributing a dime to the country that educated them.

Can I enter Paraguay with my DNI as US citizen?

Under the Mercosur agreement residents of the signatories are able to use their Cedula/DNI or similar document to travel from one to another so long as their original nationality doesn't require a visa. So that means if you're an American you could travel from Argentina to Uruguay for example...

Has Argentina Become Worse Or Better for Foreign Retirees recently?

Any products that can be produced locally and are truly of a high quality and a reasonable cost wouldn't need tariffs and other forms of protectionism to compete on the free market then. If they are only reasonable when foreign imports cost double or triple what they should cost otherwise due to...

Has Argentina Become Worse Or Better for Foreign Retirees recently?

More of the same is precisely what got voted and has been getting voted out since Milei took the reins. They tried import substitution for decades, it hasn't worked and it's not going to work. Argentina is not going to be the country where consumer electronics (TVs, Phones etc) are manufactured...

Landlord wants the rent paid... In cash, in a different city!???

I don't see the problem. Lots of landlords want dollars cash, you can't teleport the money. So either he comes to you to collect cash or you go to him. Sounds like he was too lazy to drive out to you and expected you to go to him

is there a way to get citizenship faster than having to wait 2 years with perm residency?

Yes in some provinces they required you to have a DNI, others allowed with just a precaria, in CABA it was possible with only your foreign passport to start the case, you didn't even need to have applied for residency yet

is there a way to get citizenship faster than having to wait 2 years with perm residency?

Too late for you now, you could have applied for citizenship a year ago as soon as you got married, probably would have had it approved by now. With the new DNU from Milei (issued May 2025) the only qualification is 2 years of residence with DNI in hand si o si. I'll mention that having a...

Argentina's auto parts industry feels the pain from shock therapy

These are both brand new 0km vehicles in both instances. Milei has gotten rid of a lot of the tarriffs and taxes but due to being in Mercosur the pricing is still highly distorted on vehicles brought in from overseas. Cars made in Argentina are unfortunately quite spartan in comparison to what's...

Argentina's auto parts industry feels the pain from shock therapy

I mean look it up yourself on Mercadolibre. Any half decent car is multiples more expensive than the same in the US, or even in Chile. The same car in Argentina is far more expensive than in the US (114K vs 56K) There's a reason you hardly see any luxury vehicles (BMWs, Mercedes etc) in...

Argentina's auto parts industry feels the pain from shock therapy

Alternative take: 45 Million Argentines no longer held hostage by the "jobs" of a few hundred workers and no longer have to pay double or even triple the cost for cars that are only half as good as the ones in USA or even neighboring countries like Chile.

Getting an Argentine Passport for a Newborn

The newborn DNI alone will take a few weeks, even up to 1 month to receive in the mail. The good news is once the DNI comes in you can go to the airport and make a passport al instante at the renaper in the airport. It's ready in 2-6 hours, but the cost is 330K pesos.

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

Times you use the ATM with a USA debit card should be 0. I am running all my spending through Mercado Pago and other billeteras nowadays. Lots of discounts and promos to be had with the digital payment options, it's starting to make sense how the locals are getting by because gringos are paying...
