    Converging Dollars

I'm really surprised but Milei may actually pull this off. With the Blue dipping below 1200 for the first time in six months and the official now at 1000, there's less than a 20% gap left - and narrowing. They may converge after all! (I'm scared to discover what that would mean though, prices...

DNI - which country for background check?

Thanks everyone for your help. Sounds like I need both. I may try first with just an Australian background check because it's so fast and easy to get; and if they force me to get a US one then I'll do it. Thanks!

Alert - Cheap AA miles business class seats to JFK

Alert for anyone with some AA miles looking to visit family in the USA: There were two dates with business class seats on AA direct to JFK for just 50K miles, which is absolutely insane. It's usually 150-250K miles. October 29 and November 6. I took the November 6 seat, October 29 is there until...

    Hello and a cash question

    a. Vendors don’t take US dollars. And the only US dollars which have value here are $100 bills; quite impractical for everyday purchases. You need to change them for peso and use peso. b. You can use your foreign credit card, the rate is only a couple percentage points less than you’d get for...

DNI - which country for background check?

I'm a dual Australian-US citizen, born in Australia. I want to get a DNI here and am going to file with my Australian papers because I can get them apostilled at the Australian embassy and avoid the crazy US apostille process. The only problem is the background check. I lived in the USA before...

Looking for a job as an English teacher

My kids go to a bilingual school in Buenos Aires (Palermo), I can ask if they are looking for a teacher. Salary will be local (ie, not great).

How an Argentine Can Get a Bank Account in the USA

Does this mean that if I get a DNI (as a US citizen) I’ll now be on the AFIP radar as they’ll get my tax returns and bank info?

Foreign Exchange Rates on Credit Cards

I love how everytime someone asks for info on the more advanced ways to transfer money, the responses turn into "DM me and I'll arrange it for you"; suddenly everyone is Argentinean, trying to make 3 peso off somebody else's transfer. LOL. For crypto: it's pretty simple. Some cuevas accept a...

    Are rents about to skyrocket?

I don’t think it really matters. If it gets too expensive, re-negotiate the lease. It’s not like people are lining up to shell out $3000 for your house in Neuquen. The economy is in recession and that means fewer renters for nice homes.

    Overstay options

You’re massively overthinking this. There’s a fine for overstaying but overstaying is not a crime here. It’s more similar to a parking ticket. Relax and enjoy Argentina and pay the $20 fine on your way out.

    Dollar blue reaches 1500

Are they actually getting that cheap again or is this not literal? (Stopped eating out when prices went bonkers, so I'm out of the loop)

    Milei’s Independence Day military parade

I’m not a Milei fan but the BA Times’ relentless anti-Milei compulsion is making it difficult to take it seriously as a news source. This article is a case in point: the parade was great, and the article is ostensibly about the parade, but 90% of the article is actually about (bashing) Milei...
