Cost of living: Argentina sees prices almost doubling last year

Your message suggests that the more luxury goods have doubled, while the poorer do not suffer the inflation of 100%. I think this is entirely wrong. The food basket increased by over 100%, with basic goods such as onions +466%, potatoes +270%, sugar +220%, pasta +140%, eggs 155%, bread +112%...

    Flights Out

Only a minor question (and therefore avoiding opening a new thread): what time before the flight you have to be at Aeroparque. Flight is at 6am, according to official information it is 3 hours before departure (international flight to Rio). Is it really required to be that much beforehand at the...

Trouble finding contratistas / planners ?

It is pretty surprising here. We are in a very deep economic crisis, but at the same time it is very hard good professionals. And those who are good, they have more than enough work. Especially constructors and carpenters are hard to find. What is almost impossible to find are calderistas. What...

Current fine and bank hours at EZE for overstaying Visa

Indeed. I wouldn't know of another country which has so lax, easy-going rules for tourists as Argentina.

Current fine and bank hours at EZE for overstaying Visa

Excellent!!! Exactly what I was looking for! As expected, I am not in an overstay situation. But it takes away the remaining doubts.

Current fine and bank hours at EZE for overstaying Visa

Hi, thanks for your answers. However, if my flight is at 6am and the office to pay the overstay only opens at 7am, I guess I would lose the flight?!

Current fine and bank hours at EZE for overstaying Visa

I have a question regarding entry / overstay here: I arrived beginning of August to Argentina. I received an email afterwards confirming the 90 days tourist visa. Mid of October I went to Uruguay for a longer weekend. On my return, I haven't received an email. Now I will be leaving for Brazil...

Tourists leave hundreds of millions of dollars in Argentina

Thanks for the article. It amazes me that the percentage (of those having a bank account) is so high. Hard to believe. Even so, as long as there is * blue rate * sky high taxes which drives people into black market * widespread corruption there will also be cash. It is going to be interesting...

Legality of repeated Western Union cash pickups?

To give you an update on this message I sent a few weeks ago: a couple of days later it was ok and it has been working just fine again

Legality of repeated Western Union cash pickups?

Thank you very much. Much appreciated. If I understand this correctly, I first pay +/- 2% to convert USD to USDT/USDC; then is a further fee to convert USDT/USDC back to USD (say +/- 2%), and from this USD to get the ARS there is then the blue rate (which is typically a bit lower than the CCL...

Legality of repeated Western Union cash pickups?

Excuse my ignorance here. I have no DNI here. How do I get my hands on peso here with a crypto transfer? So I would need to have an intermediary person (cueva, or whatever)?

Cheap Flights From Argentina to Europe?!

Thanks. Interesting. I will look into this next time. Question: what is the reason to book one-way flights to Sao Paulo? Why not a normal return flight which fits the flight Sao Paulo to Europe / US?

Looking for Decent Nightlife Drinking Buddies and More!

Unless you want to go out with 60+ old Yankees and talk about Perón, lawfare and other conspiracy theories, I think this is the wrong place for you here. I must also say that your overall negativity probably doesn't sound very appealing to most others ("third world idiots"). Good luck to you anyway.

The Ghost of Peronism: Why Argentina Keeps Making the Same Mistakes

You did not read the article, but his bio? What is factually wrong with "A hundred years ago Argentina was one of the wealthiest countries"?

Do we need a roundtrip ticket on a Tourist Visa?

Exactly, the paperwork is quite extensive, so I would just avoid applying for a visa (if you are unfamiliar with country and language, you will also need a lawyer, so good luck with that). If the risk of an overstay is deemed too high, I would still go to Uruguay before the three month period is...

Do we need a roundtrip ticket on a Tourist Visa?

I wouldn't worry about a rentista visa if you plan to live here only for one year. I would rather do some visa runs (or simply have an overstay then here, which costs close to nothing when you leave the country at the end). There are some voices here (mostly lawyers .... ) who say that visa runs...

Legality of repeated Western Union cash pickups?

    Apartment purchase cost?

Any way, i hope you do not intend to buy an apartment based on research done in the US. And I hope you already know Argentina/BsAs, otherwise dont jump into buying something quickly. Also keep in mind it is a buyers market. So the prices you in internet are generally 10-30% above market value...

    Apartment purchase cost?

The VAT is only on the fees. So if the real estate fee is 3%, what you are effectively paying is 3.6%. (In my case, the realtor wanted his VAT without actually giving an invoice… bienvenido to Argentina!) in total, you have to calculate between 5-8% costs of the purchase value (All included)
