Less than half of public primary school students have access to English classes in Argentina

I wonder how that compares to Spanish classes being offered in, for example, the US or UK.

Milei’s plan to free $270bn cash stuffed under Argentine mattresses

I find it wonderful that our beloved President Milei has had the courage to finally grant thieves the equal rights they so richly deserve, by allowing the laundering of billions of undeclared dollars, previously hidden in mattresses that hindered economic growth and prosperity. Until now...

    Applying for citizenship via email

I see. So the only advantage is that being a citizen would insure your status in Arg should you leave for 2 years. By the way: DH? GC?

    Applying for citizenship via email

Hello Nikad- I much admire your knowledge on the goings on here in "the Arg" and the help you give to others. Just a quick question: I've been a permanent resident here for over 20 years, and was wondering if there's any advantage in becoming a citizen. Sending regards.

    English-speaking ENT

I go to the Instituto Otorrinolaringológico Arauz. I've had no problems speaking Spanglish with several of the doctors. But you can request an appt with someone with fluid English.

    Experience finding Geriatric Home

I just received a call from a representative at Senior Apartments (beautiful, new place) on Av Corrientes, near the corner of Callao. There are many different prices according to your mom's mobility, etc. If you want more info, call Lourde 115-103-2904

    Experience finding Geriatric Home

I'm unaware of the legal ramifications (contracts!?) of paying someone to do errands for and escort her to places. It seems that you're on course for finding a facility under 3k/mo. for your mom. If you need assistance in finding an honest, occasional helper, I'm happy to help. Best of luck.

    Experience finding Geriatric Home

I'd be happy to research and find prices of live-in geriatric facilities for your mom. Finding someone honest, caring and reasonably priced to occasionally provide the help not offered by the facility will not be difficult. I have contact with people who do that. I'll let you know what I come...

I was told that I shouldn't try to receive my SS here in CABA. "Why shouldn't" I receive it here is a reasonable question. Also, I'll never have a reason to change it back. No one is "arguing", CC.

No, which bank to receive my "SS". "SSI" is a different animal.

Thanks Lunar- I just don't get why people are so adamantly against doing any kind of business with Macro or any other bank here.

Hola CC- Why shouldn't US Soc-Sec know that I'm a US citizen and permanent resident of Argentina? And have you heard bad stories about people in my position who have had their SS payment sent to an International bank (Santander, Galicia, etc) with offices in Argentina?

Old, confused and appreciative of help.

Thank you, Johngwyn- The problem is that my money’s sitting (languishing) in an account with Vanguard (an investment company, not a bank). It doesn’t issue credit cards, I only have checks As I remain living in the mid 20th century, I’m absolutely ignorant (helpless) when it comes to computers...

Please excuse the question if it’s stupid, but I’m pushing 80 (un viejo choto) and am easily confused. I’ve read several nightmare accounts of how people’s SSI have been either delayed or halted, and were forced to jump through bureaucratic hoops to get them restored. Does the same problem...
