New Policy at Starbucks, No Purchase necessary...

When I moved here about four years ago almost all the milk ingredients stated Leche en polvo. I’ve not looked recently but will. Just like the sachet Sancor milk had oil added to it.

Heating it to a higher temperature preserves it on the shelf. This higher temperature also ruins it for making yogurt.

New Policy at Starbucks, No Purchase necessary...

When refrigerated milk is pasteurized, it is heated to 170 degrees Fahrenheit to kill bacteria. Shelf-stable milk, on the other hand, is heated to 284 degrees, killing even more of the bacteria that cause milk to spoil. CNN - Health: Companies try to market no-spoil milk in the U.S.

New Policy at Starbucks, No Purchase necessary...

Nearly all milk in Argentina has powdered milk added to it. Read the label. Also the extended shelflife milk has been heat treated so that’s another reason why it tastes differently. It’s not just the packaging.

    English skill

I still contend that most of the population here does not speak English “well” which is what I thought the question was. “Some” may speak English well, a minority, others may speak poorly, but for the most part many speak a word or two if that.

    Hershey’s Chocolate

Coto carries Hershey milk chocolate bars. They’re not imported, but made here so don’t taste the same, or in my opinion, as good.

    Abortion to become legal.....

Certainly you may speak for yourself regarding your opinion about the importance of family in your country. However I believe that family is more important to people in the United States than in Argentina. My proof is that I and other people I know in the US do absolutely everything in their...

    Everything gone to hell, again!

“Once it was our turn at the exchange window, the Casa de Cambio refused to exchange our Dollars because my wife's Uruguayan passport and Cedula were apparently not sufficient proof of her legal status in Argentina, only the flimsy, white entry document/ receipt issue at the border, which we did...

    Inflation ???

The law is that all antibiotics and most other controlled substance medications must have a prescription from a doctor here. Not all pharmacies follow the law and that’s why you can walk in and get antibiotics without a prescription. The chain pharmacies such as Farmacia nine times out of 10...

    The Macri Debate

How can you all continue to spar with this guy? His English language skills are so inferior as to make much of what he writes unintelligible and he twists everything around to try to support his pro”K”ism. His negative comments are all basically outright slander.....wait, libel! It’s kind of...

Best place to buy a bed?

I bought mine last year at Piero. They had a 30% off sale so I felt good about the price. I bought medium quality. I think anyone who has slept on a Piero would agree that the quality is good in their medium to upper range beds. And they delivered mind exactly when they said they would and even...

Best Dog Food / Dog Food Retailer in BA

I’ve been here for 4 years. I brought two dogs with me from the states. The dog food here is inedible for anyone. Took me about two years to realize I was going to have to make my own. Now my dogs are healthy and fit because they are not eating that manufactured crap. In answer to your...

Visiting Buenos Aires in August, thoughts?

You’ll be here when it’s cold and rainy. Like any foreign city, you just have to be aware of your surroundings and careful. It’s no more dangerous than Rome or Paris. I’ve never seen women hounded by men here. That may be particular to Italy and France and maybe other areas but not here. I...
