    Veterinarian Needed Urgently!

Yes, actually I have been seeing the dermatologist at Paunero. I think she is just out of her league with this case, although she is very nice. I have a medical / pharmaceutical background so it has been difficult for me to be patient here. My experience in the United States w/ vets was superb...

    Veterinarian Needed Urgently!

Thank you very much. I went to see your vet this morning and he was very nice. Unfortunately, he does not have expertise in more serious skin infections. He did give me some referrals but they were pretty far away.

    Veterinarian Needed Urgently!

Hi all! I have lived here for a couple of years and used local vets near my apartment for odds and ends of things for my two dogs. I have been seeing one of those vets for the past 3 months concerning a skin infection on one of my dogs. I guess I finally realize she doesn't know what she's doing...

    Prescription

I walk in and out of pharmacies all the time with and without prescription slips and get prescription meds here. So different from the US. so far there are only two meds that I have had to have actual prescriptions for, antibiotic eye drops and narcotic pain meds.

    Traffic Anomalies

Doesn't it bother anyone that so many don't use their lights at night? About half the cars use parking lights or no lights at all and when I try to cross the street it's almost impossible to see them coming.

What Do You Wish You Had Brought Or Left Behind?

If you like peanut butter, don't forget to bring a truckload. The only one I have found here is loaded with sugar.

    Water Bill Sticker $Hock

I have read on this blog that many feel the prices going up make them more realistic than they were previously. I have to disagree as the wages here are about 25% of the wages compared to the United States. Therefore food cost to equal the United States are not realistic at all here.

    Mosquitos In Ba Or Iguazu?

Yes mosquitos are around in Capital right now. I get bitten every few days. There are many more in Tigre and anywhere in the areas directly adjacent to the river. The Zika virus threat is higher in those areas as is rabies and heartworm for animals. Use plenty of repellent in Iguasu.

Value Of The Usd V.s. The Peso

Of course you are right. My employer agreed to give me increases that match the inflation here, but has reneged. It goes without saying that I am VERY disappointed and struggling.

    Medialuna Dough?

Medialuna dough is almost exactly like croissant dough but with more sugar. If you attempt to bring the dough back to the States frozen, and it begins to thaw, which it most likely will, the yeast will activate and it will quickly spoil. Pillsbury crescent rolls are not even close to either...

    It's Too Expensive Here!

Yes I too am finding it a challenge to manage basic cost of living expenses. My rent just went up 55%, groceries are up 50 to 75% since December, and we all know what happened to the utility bills. I am earning in pesos and although I was supposed to get increased equal to inflation, that's not...

    A Beautiful Madhouse?

Noesdeayer - I was simply relaying the thoughts of my relatives here as to why they are complacent. So this was not my opinion, but comments passed on from some Argentine nationals. Their feeling of being repressed goes way beyond 38 years, by the way. Unfortunately it is the history of this...

    A Beautiful Madhouse?

I have been coming to Argentina for 35 years and moved here permanently two years ago. I have family here. The general consensus in regard to your inquiry is that the Argentine people have been beaten down for so long by all of the different governments that they have lost faith that real...

Apartment Expenses For Worn Out Blind

I think that much of what's being discussed here regarding repairs and responsibility for them comes down to the owner's personality and the tenant's relationship with the owner as well as subjective definition of "normal wear and tear." I just signed my 3rd 1 yr contract and asked for 3 small...
