Got to say Ive had a few experiences like this in supermarkets in Argentina before covid 19 reared its tiny little deadly non existent head

When will life return to normal?

Nations will look back on this and determine the outbreak was handled badly. Really badly. If they dont then they should. 8 billion people and the majority living in close proximity to each other. Come on. 1-no plan ready to go for the eventuality of an epidemic or pandamic. Its not as if there...

When will life return to normal?

Fact - Death by covid 19 is rare for under 60s and the averagely healthy. Why is the focus not on the most vulnerable, the over 60s and those with underlying health complications, quarantining themselves while the less vulnerable continue as normal as possible and allow 'herd immunity' to...

My coronavirus story and escape from Buenos Aires

LOL - Better to be in the US than Argentina in times like these no? Though your many Argentine friends might be wondering when you'll be back...

Safer to stay in Lima Perú or come back to Argentina?

Neither. The Falklands/Las Malvinas would be a better idea.

Why are the Ramones so huge in Argentina?

If a band makes an effort to come to far away tricky Argentina and put on a show then Argentines will really appreciate and dig that. Coldplay did a cover of Musica Ligera on their last tour of Argentina and that went down really well with the crowd. They love that kind of stuff.

Why are the Ramones so huge in Argentina?

Maybe -Ramon- being a spanish name made them somewhat more interesting and accessible. Or maybe not.

Why are Argentinians so accepting of corruption ?

And I guess the 'Decada Ganada' didn't leave as solid a foundation as one would have thought.

    Bolivia

Evo not exactly innocent but its increasingly looking like a coup and it could really kick off. Shame for Bolivia and region as whatever Evo's faults were country and life under his tenure had improved considerably especially for very poor .

Am I the only person in Argentina that finds the term "chinito" offensive?

Am I the only person in Argentina that finds the term "chinito" offensive?

I think you are aware that your constant cries of whataboutism are in fact a deflectionary tactic that whataboutism itself is accused of. Feel free to ignore my posts.

    Macri

Can't deny i'm very envious , they will live in a fancy area , enjoy the Madrid life , spend their millions travelling in Europe to Marbella Club to hang out with the nobility. He may even buy a title , in Italy Marquis de Palermo....! I think he already has a veeery comfortable privileged...

Am I the only person in Argentina that finds the term "chinito" offensive?

Whataboutism, to use your favourite term, is perfectly valid when pointing out blatant hypocrisy. It seems to be your Godwin's law. You can't justify or convert others to your position so out comes -whataboutism- with a pompous rude response. (-'facepalm'-).

Am I the only person in Argentina that finds the term "chinito" offensive?

Nikad makes it clear that the context and and intent is what matters not the word. If 2 Latin American friends want to refer to each other as 'Sudacas' whats is got to do with anyone else? In this context its obviously an effective word to show trust and playfulness between the 2. Without...

living cost for one person in BA?

Youre right and thats a good list - I would add income and business taxes if self employed - but it makes me wonder how people get by. For a nuclear family to have a fairly frugal but comfortable lower - mid middle class life building savings for the future you need an income of US$100 000 these...

What This Means For Ex Pats

CFK is a clearly narciscistic and emotionally unbalanced person and yet she will be happily welcomed back by more than half the country. Trump is similar but not so unhinged and at least (for now) the US 'works' day to day. Thats Argentina set back for 10 years. Real Shame.

How long before Starbucks kills off the classic Argentinian cafe?

Problem is rising rents and the typical (for now) confiterias with most people ordering just a relatively cheap espresso and 2 media lunas and lingering on those for ages are not very efficient. Bonafide and Martinez cost as much as Starbucks.
