Tap to Pay scam -- has it arrived in BA?

While viewing this video today, I realized that my debit card functions with the "tap and pay" method. Has anyone had money disappear from their bank account without their knowledge using this new device? This is the best reason I know to not carry a debit or credit card unless you plan to use it.

    Recommendations for Bedding & Linens

Many years ago I bought three sets of queen sheets at a house sale from an American couple who were moving to Costa Rica. I continue to use one of the three sets even though the elastic is worn out. There are linen shops in my neighborhood, but finding the quality of those made for the US...

    Troubles With Building Administration

The last assembly with Andres Ardid was via Zoom because he didn't want to waste any time with traveling, since he knew that his mandate would not be renewed. Only his soccer buddy and the "dictadora" voted to renew his mandate. Then the dictadora found a new administrator to her liking, as...

How is the civic discourse and sense of community in AR?

I walk the city, whether going shopping or on my way to a concert venue. I observe. People under the age of 50 have their eyes glued to their cellphones when walking or even riding a bicycle. Parents ignore their children because the cellphone has priority. People over 70 make eye contact...

1906 House for sale by architect owner in Balvanera/San Cristobal

This old house is located at Chile 2468, one block from Av. Independencia, between Alberti and Matheu. It is technically in San Cristobal, and the other side of the street is Balvanera. (I learned that detail from the police.) I rented and then bought the unit on Chile because several...

1906 House for sale by architect owner in Balvanera/San Cristobal

I shared your comments with the owner. You make good points that any buyer has to consider. Not everyone is interested in an old house from another era. There are two patios, which are my favorite areas of the house. They are full of plants and trees, and so quiet.

1906 House for sale by architect owner in Balvanera/San Cristobal

My neighbors are ready to sell the house they bought 40 years ago before moving to Europe where their family lives. I have known the house since 2016 when it was a guest house managed by one of their sons. I have photos and a video tour of the house that I shared with tango tourists. The...

Less than half of public primary school students have access to English classes in Argentina

Grammar school in the US in the 50s stressed English. A second language (Spanish, French, German, Latin) was offered in high schools in the 60s. I know many Argentine seniors who speak a high level of English because they learned it in school along with Spanish. The courses that matter --...

Learn if you can vote on Sunday’s election

I have voted as a naturalized citizen since 2017. The paper ballots on the table are gone and have been replaced by a fancy machine with a touch screen. The process is fast and easy. There's no chance for vote fraud here.
