Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

I appreciate the input from all - even if one was obtuse and seemingly self-contradictory (though he should be ignoring me according to his own posts). A few observations: 1. Though I am unclear on the tax ramifications of permanent residency, I see no need to put my self on the AFIP radar...

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

Okay, then there will be even less, not more, reason for someone like me to seek permanent resident status after Dec 10.

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

For those of us who are not Argie lawyers or who are otherwise incapable of understanding legal citations, pray tell, what is DNU 70/2017 ? Moreover, if abolishing it makes coming and going harder, then why do you say FF is not xenophobic as is Macri. (It would seem the contrary should be true.)

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

P If I understand you correctly, you mean to say that a new administration takes over on Dec 10, not that there will be any changes in the applicable law, per se. If, as you also say, FF is not xenophobic as is Macric, then it stands to reason that immigration policies/enforcement would be more...

Why are Argentinians so accepting of corruption ?

I'm no expert. In deed, I have been sctratching my head for much of the 45 years I have been coming here trying to figure out why this country keeps spinning its economic wheels. Nevertheless, it seems to me that restrictive import duties and an antiquated legal system (especially imbalanced...

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

I confess ignorance as to the significance of the risk. My wife is Argentine. I travel with her so hopefully that would minimize the risk, but if I were denied entry, I have a home in Miami.

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

Thanks for this suggestion. I'll consult a lawyer (my wife's ex with whom I am good friends and whose daughter it is).

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

Thanks for constructing this hypothetical. I don't desire permanent residence status now, much less when my Arg mate dies. (If I did, there's probably a method for a financially well situated retiree to qualify.) I have no assets in Arg and I have a will that disposes of all my personal and real...

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

Thanks. (The older I get, the fewer pains in the ass I wish to endure.)

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

Thanks for pointing out some benefits, however, I see nothing that would convince me to obtain permanent resident status. My Arg wife can get most of the items listed should they be desired, but frankly, most of them are either not desired or are irrelevant (especially item #8).

Is there any benefit to permanent resident status?

I am married to a Portena. We split our time between Arg and the US pretty evenly going back and forth 3 or 4 times per year, not to mention short departures from Arg for trips to Brasil, Uruguay or cruises elsewhere. I never overstay the 90 day visitor timeframe. I could obtain permanent...

    Airport Transfer

I believe Taxi Ezesia may be as good or better an option. There is a desk inside the secure area and one outside the secure area located in the terminal near the exit of the secure area - the latter has lower prices than the former (go figure). Both take plastic. If you have a lot of bags, ask...

    Emergencias Salud health plan

I have my Medicare and a Medicare Supp plan (United Health) for when I am in the US (though I have some foreign emergency coverage through United with a 5K annual self retention and and a lifetime capp of about 1MM). I have a local doc for ordinary MD visits. He was 1st in his class in Med...

    Emergencias Salud health plan

I have Emergencias. I pay about 1600 pesos/mo. I like it and it has saved me lots of money including on drug prescriptions (40% off). Xarelto cost me about $40 /mo here . It costs about $450/mo in the US.

    Generation Z and Argentine Election

You did indeed understand my point -- enjoy the ride. I have been doing so, off and on, for over 45 years. I no longer empathize with the locals as I once did. Of course, some of the politicians and some of the wealthy share responsibility for the sorry state of affairs. So do others, e.g., the...

    Generation Z and Argentine Election

I'm a frequent visitor and even more so now that I married a Portena. It's been a while since I participated here, but feel obliged to comment on a discussion seeking to assign blame for the chronic economic problems suffered by so many, if not, most Argentines. I'm not sure who or what is...

Peso what level do you see it this year?

Uh....Che, rather than the IMF, you want I should believe in Argentina? Hmmm. I'll opt for the IMF. p.s. I first started coming to Bs As in 1975. I have been spending blocks of time here since then, more in the past decade because I bought an apt here in 2008. I married a Portena and have spent...
