Not Happy Here, Easy buy a Nationality 12 Country Options

Thanks, Rich, but it is not the coffee I miss. What I yearn for is to sit in a comfortable chair in a cafe, surrounded by the smell of fresh coffee and lulled by the chatter of neighboring tables. Been sitting at home alone with the dog for five solid months now and Manchita, although...

In Puerto Madryn, Chubut, cafes, bookstores, and the shopping mall are open for business. Safe distancing enforced. I'd give anything to be able to sit in a cafe and order a cortado con dos medialunas.....!

A story with a happy ending

Here's something to brighten our day in these troubled times. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems Argentina is the only country to recognize an animal as a "non human person with legal rights". Sandra, the orangutan, was granted that status back in 2014...

The pandemic: The view after 5 months

On the subject raised by Somewhere in BA, about some people being worth-saving more than others, this came to mind: First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was...

The pandemic: The view after 5 months

Not only that, but in this country of extended family, if they caught the virus they could infect two generations when they got home. Perhaps they could go to school on alternate days, splitting classes in two with just half the students in each, sitting at a safe distance. But, children being...

The pandemic: The view after 5 months

Sounds like the kind of categorical thing Trump says. "Everybody knows...", "Lots of people tell me....", etc., etc. But I believe that we should go on with the business of living and let the chips fall where they may. Life in a permanent defensive mode is no life at all.

Argentina re-opening international flights in August!

Just read in La Nacion that the Arg. Powers That Be plan to get together on the 12th. to decide about flights. So, nothing is firm yet, and airlines are left to their own devices. Some are suspending flights, others - like Emirates - are fed up and canceling service to Buenos Aires altogether...

No, went to their site. Minimum purchase is around 3500, enough for ten of them. Wish I had known they were available through ML. Love the place!

Does anyone know if I can open a bank account on a tourist visa?

In order to open a bank account you need a DNI, an Argentine ID issued only to residents.. A few years ago, you could open a bank account in Uruguay with only a tourist visa. That may have changed.

VP Cristina Fernandez de Kirshner is Suing Google.

There's no denying that she's a very shrewd politician, a born survivor, and a great actress. Milked her widow's blacks for all they were worth, played "poor woman on a wheelchair" when convenient, and "devoted mother" when politically expedient. A truly gifted woman - poor Alberto doesn't...
