BAFICI '11: a How-to Guide to an amazing international film festival

Hey group! A friend of mine recently did a write up of the ins and outs of BAFICI for a local paper. The article is very comprehensive. It is a must read if you have never been, but I'm sure you can learn a few things if you have been to it before as well. Unfortunately I will not be in BA...

Inflation over the last few months and years

Every few months I see a price jump in the supermarkets, restaurants, and taxis; I don't like it, but it is not new, and I somehow feel it is to be expected. This last time I have felt the jump to be more steep than in the past. This article confirmed my suspicions. What are your thoughts?

    Fried Chicken?!

Hey all, I found some fried chicken tonite by accident actually. I went to Inka, Si Senor which is a Peruvian restaurant and didn't recognize a few of the menu items so I decided to roll the dice and live life on the wild side. To my surprise my boyfriend and I discovered 'Pollo Broaster' is...

    A positive story about LAN = )

I was very pleased with LAN's service this week. I took a trip to Iguazu with a friend, and we had in our minds that we would have our last morning in town, then head out at 2. Around 11 we check the confirmation email to make sure and realized our flight gets into BA at 2 (leaves at 1130 which...

    Russian Restaurant- Traktir

The other day I was in a cab, and our driver was on the phone. He was speaking a very interesting language that I was pretty sure was not Portuguese. I asked him where he was from and he told me Ukraine. I asked him if there was an area where there are a lot of places to go (like the Arabic...

    Under-wire Rant

I have purchased 5 bras here. The first one I hunted down a Maidenform Bra, and paid over 150 pesos almost 2 years ago. I realized that that was just way too expensive, so since then I have purchased 4 Argentine brand bras that ranged from 30-70 pesos and seemed to be good quality. Since then...

Pinball, sports games, and beer = )

Hey guys, I went to this bar in Palermo that I thought some of you may like. They have a nice outside patio area and a few stories with a few bars. They also have a pinball machine that you can play. The food is good, and they occasionally have a 35 peso all you can eat during the week. The...

Argentina is the most expensive place in the world to buy an ipod

I saw this list of prices from 2009, and was not really shocked to see Argentina's place on the list. http://images.comsec.com.au/newsresearch/articles/global%20comparisons.pdf I guess this is just proof that buying electronics here is the wrong move.

Has anyone joined Ateneo Gimnasia on Riobomba?

I have been looking around for a good gym, and I found Ateneo today. Apparently they are a part of the Megatlon group but not as official as the rest of the locations? The place was gorgeous, and has a pol with a roof that opens! They also have a rock climbing wall. It seems a little pricy...

I found a real BBQ place an hour outside the city = )

If you think salsa barbacoa and Kansas cant hold a flame to your favorite ribs back home, I found the most amazing resturant. I was invited by an Argentine friend to a restaurant in a town called Adrogué. You can take a train from Constitution to get there. Their restaurant is called Alamos...
