18 Y/o Girl Coming Alone To Ba, I Have Some Questions/fears

You obviously have not spent any time in San Telmo after dark! It is not very safe to walk around at night, especially not as a young woman alone. I have heard tourists say things like have confidence and look like you live here and you'll be fine. This is dangerous advice as I know many locals...

Anybody Up For An Expat Scientology Coffee Morning?

Dear MusicMan, I would like to apologise for my previous cynicism on this thread. Having read all the links and information you have posted so far, I am interested in learning more about the teaching of the great man, LRH and his vision for humanity through Scientology. In particular, I want to...

Anybody Up For An Expat Scientology Coffee Morning?

I like Xenu - at least he would have punished LRon for not paying any taxes all those years!

Anybody Up For An Expat Scientology Coffee Morning?

I wouldn't want to attend this meeting for fear of offending genuinely nice people with my strong view that Scientology is a cult designed to rip people off and that there is tremendous evidence for believing this view from many former long-time scientologists (not least those interviewed in...

Anybody Up For An Expat Scientology Coffee Morning?

Just checking this isn't a troll posting. If not, I refer you to the excellent documentary 'Going Clear': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd9QMCUper8

Low Cost Airline Ba/london Starts 03/18

I'm very disappointed in the pricing from Norwegian. Return flights with British Airways cost from £750, including luggage and food, when departing from London first leg. However, if departing from Buenos Aires for the first leg, you get ripped off big time. There's a 25% price increase; not...

What Happened To The Dvds For Sale On Sidewalks

Nothing to do with Netflix or the internet (although I'm sure it is true less people are buying DVDs). As one person above states, the DVD sellers (as well as the sunglasses sellers) have been the focus of a huge crackdown, particularly around Once. There were lots in Caballito where we are but...

    "civil" Marriage - Documents Needed?

JLevi - your post has been hijacked a little but here is what you need to know. I as an Englishman just married my Argie wife in BA in January. It's quite easy but a little bureaucratic and requires trips to various offices and hospitals! The first thing you do is go to the civil registry...

Are Argentina Girls Really That Bad?

Yep! But beware the people who write those messages on these forums. They are often the grumpy, self-centered, morons who can't keep a woman in their home countries and come to South America expecting to find an easy girlfriend/wife who is less independent. Not sure their attitude is right for...

Are Argentina Girls Really That Bad?

Dear LatinLover, pardon me but you sound like a complete numpty. Why use all those negative adjectives when you could use more accurate ones like passionate, loyal, loving? My experience of Argentinian women is the total opposite to your stereotype - all I have met are incredibly warm...

    Argentina: Huge Arms Purchase

$280m in defence terms is not worth talking about. I worked out that $280m will buy approximately 7% of one of Britain's 2 new aircraft carriers, due for launch in 2020. Argentina should save its money. http://www.telegraph...ies-think-twic/

New Immigration Decree, Long Life To King Macri!

I for one enjoy reading Bajo_cero - I may not agree with his political convictions but his comments are a very useful way to understand how a lot of people think in Argentina. May I also state that I have enjoyed reading julian's comments as well as others who disagree. As an expat, I view...

New Immigration Decree, Long Life To King Macri!

A poor argument is one which characterises the current political situation in Argentina with lazy terms such as fascist, absolute monarch or prinzip - or indeed, compares a democratically-elected government making decisions to the policies of Nazi Germany or apartheid-era South Africa. This does...

    Immigration For Dummies

This thread has been very helpful to me and very informative. However, some information is fairly old now. Does anyone have an updated list of necessary documents when applying for the DNI? I will be marrying an Argentinian shortly and just want to apply for the DNI, not the citizenship. I asked...

    Changing Up Pounds

19.6 pesos to the pound on xe.com. Why would you except to receive more than the freely tradable rate? 19 would be a great deal, but I wouldn't expect it as £ aren't as desirable as $. Dollar-peso currently at 15.9 on xe.com. Anything close to that would be fine for the dollar.

    Changing Up Pounds

You can easily change pounds to pesos on Calle Florida. We got 18.5 pesos to the pound a few weeks ago.
