    Travelin S.A. in motorhome

Getting out of Argentina is hard. You can buy the vehicle, buy insurance and travel around Argentina pretty easily but you can't leave the country with your vehicle without a DNI. Nothing else will do. Getting a DNI is a verrrry long process. Sorry not to be more encouraging. On the plus side...

    Knife robbery attempt in Palermo

Assuming you're not a budding sashimi chef, I'm shocked at your revelation. And actually quite disgusted. Shame on you.

Five Flag / Six Flag (PT) Theory

This is what I was hoping someone with more knowledge would come along and correct! My point was that I don't think it's a suitable 5 flag country as I understand the law to mean that you should pay global asset tax if you are one of the following, regardless of how long you spend in Argentina...

Five Flag / Six Flag (PT) Theory

I'm sure bajo cero will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the rule is that if you are either have residency, citizenship or you are in Argentina for more than 180 days per year and thus you are no longer classified as a tourist and are deemed resident for tax purposes, then you are...

Five Flag / Six Flag (PT) Theory

Isn't one of the rules that you get citizenship in a country with no tax on foreign assets/income??

Are Our Criticisms of Argentine Legitimate?

If you are looking with overseas educated eyes, UBA is a second rate university. It is the top university in Argentina, but ranks 326 on the QS World University Rankings. There are 72 better universities in the US, 40 better in the UK...

Best uk card / bank to use

I tried this with their international relocation people. It didn't work, namely because I didn't have a DNI. They also couldn't perform their usual "we'll set everything up before you get there so there's no hassle" account opening due to local regulation that you have to be physically present...

I believe there is only a charge if you don't meet the criteria for the account.

Best uk card / bank to use

Hsbc premier but fx conversion is a bit cr*p. Very useful is the emergency cash advance (up to US$2000) which is time consuming but really handy if you need to pay rent. Haven't ever been charged the cash machine operator charge mentioned below...

Just for fun - if you wanted to blow a lot of cash on a big night out in BsAs...

Last time I was there the wine we ordered was 200 pesos a bottle. So it is easy. Too easy....! And seriously, $10 a drink? Where are you hanging out that stuff is so cheap? As others have said, a decent drink, i.e. not crappy wine or smirnoff, in a nice bar is approaching $20 with service...

    Looking for a rice cooker

There is only ever one answer to the "where can I buy this [insert food/food related product here]" question. Barrio Chino They sell rice cookers in a couple of the bigger chinese supermarkets there. And rice. And peanut butter.

    Driver's Licence......???

In the UK you can get it from the AA or the post office. The AA is better as you (rather than a representative) need to be physically present at the post office otherwise they won't process the form. Basically, email a friend in the UK with copies of the required documents and get them to make...

    Is homosexuality accepted in Argentina

At least the "American model", if such a thing exists, is not built on lies. If you think what you wrote is acceptable, perhaps you need to look at your morals. I'm not saying that family is not important, it is, incredibly so, in fact that's exactly what I want to say. But if the family was...

    Barrio Chino on a feriado?

Definitely go today. As others have said, even is barrio chino is miraculously open on Monday (which wouldn't surprise me given how entrepreneurial chinese people are, but this is Argentina lol), the produce is not going to get any fresher between now and then.

Polo Campeonato / El Abierto Tickets

For the final: Dorrego/sunny side - super casual Shady side - depends where you are sitting. On the whole smart/casual. Don't forget you can party the night away at the chandon bar afterwards. For all other games casual - dress how you would normally. Don't forget sunscreen.

    duty free

I flew into EZE on BA in September. Tourist visa. British passport very obviously in hand. They were xraying everything. I declared nothing, I forgot the bit about the phone declaration. After my bags went through the xray they searched my hand luggage (3 bags). Went through the clothing bag...
