Why would anyone come to this country in this century?

Because its cheap in Latin America. Argentina is a legitimate choice. Money I got left would last me 2 years in the US. Here, I can probably go for an extra 4 years. As simple as that.

Argentina had a higher monthly inflation rate than Venezuela in February 2022. Congratulations to all involved.

Glad to see this posted. I have noticed in my personal shopping that over the past month prices have gone up more than usual.

Sending money to a bank account

So, I'm in Argentina and have pesos. I am planning to reserve a vacation rental (in another Argentine city) and the rental agency is asking me to send a deposit to their company's bank account. I have cash pesos - and am planning to go to Rapipago and Western Union to pay cash for a transfer...

    Western Union money transfer

I thought I was getting a bad deal when I had to give a peso deposit on the place I'm renting. Turns out I'll make money on the arrangement. lol Doesn't happen often.

When I move here what special things should I bring that are hard to get?

Vegemite. Not that you'd want to eat it...unless you have a marsupial pouch on your belly... but its definitely hard to find.

    Best Fernet Brands to Try

The cost for the Nero was about 5% less than Branca. Other Fernet brands are roughly half the cost of Branca. (Vittone, 1882) Between the Nero and Branca, I'd say I prefer the Branca, but there is still a benefit - in my mind- to adding a little variety.

    Best Fernet Brands to Try

I picked up a bottle of Nero 53 to try. I thought I would explore a few different brands. Anyone have thoughts/picks/preferences on varieties out there? Oh and the Nero 53? Its a little smoky, minty, hint of caramel. -All in comparison to the Branca standard, of course.

Has Max thrown down the gauntlet?

I've never used Prep H or Argentine PrepH, but I trust your judgement and accept your point. So, lets do a mental exercise: Argentine people need and Argentine companies produce "bad lube" and "good PrepH" Now lets make a very simple hypothetical example and say that Chilean people need both...

Has Max thrown down the gauntlet?

National brands? Ok. This is a bit of a ramble, my apologies in advance.. So, one day 'my friend' went into the local farmacia and asked for 'lubricante sensual'. Expecting KY to be brought to the counter. He was given the choice of KY or this other product which the clerk said (with much...

Has Max thrown down the gauntlet?

I don't know if they will ever make the hard decisions. Argentina has been on a glide path lower for like a 100 years. Personally, I blame the phenomenon of 'national brands' for the gradually increasing poverty.

    Culture Reality Check

One thing I do like about the supermarkets is that you get to pick through and select your own produce. Here in Cordoba -the main city 'market' and a large number of the small produce shops in this neighborhood will pick the produce for you. In theory I have no problem with this except the...

    Culture Reality Check

Thanks for your reply. I've spend about half my adult life outside the US. -I know what you mean about the speed thing - but that's not quite it. I understand that things don't always function at the same speed in different places. I don't mind waiting if its for something legitimate. For...

    Culture Reality Check

This morning I was in line at the local-chain supermarket. When the customer in front me of me finished, I moved up, placed my things down on the checkout stand - without a delay. The checkout clerk walked away from the register to another desk and began cutting up a display sign. I was...

Argentina partially reopens as it approaches 5 mln COVID-19 cases

Any changes to domestic travel? Is the care app/certificate of travel still required for public transportation between cities?

    Certificado de turismo

I've been in the same city the whole time, so I never needed to worry about requirements for inter-city bus service.
