There is a wealth of LTE routers which have support for external antennas available in Europe. In Argentina the LTE bands are 4 and 28 (1700mhz/2100mhz and 700mhz) so the European versions obviously won't work for LTE, but what has surprised me is the lack of US/Latin american version of these routers. I am looking for a router with inbuilt 3G/LTE modem and support external antennas e.g. like TP Link Archer MR200 https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Unlocked-Configuration-Required-UK/dp/B0161ACBE0 but with support for LTE bands 4/28
Looking around fravega, compumundo, garbarino etc the options I see
1. routers which have USB ports which can take certain compatible 3G/LTE dongles. I am aware that some USB 3G/LTE dongles have support for external antennas but I see them a flimsy solution not to mention finding ones with support for LTE bands 4/28. e.g . Big player brands such as TP-link,
http://www.tp-link.com/ar/products/list-4691.html only options are TL-MR3420 and TL-MR3220 which both require external dongles plugged into the USB port.
2. Above mentioned shops have the huawei E5573s-508 which has LTE band 4, and has 2x ts-5 connectors for external antenna but again I would prefer a modem/router device like Archer MR200 as opposed to a mifi hotspot.
other devices that support bands 4 and 28 are listed on the following pages:
http://www.4gltemall.com/ue-by-spectrum/band-4-ues.html
http://www.4gltemall.com/ue-by-spectrum/band-28.html
An interesting option is the Huawei B890-66 (http://www.4gltemall.com/huawei-b890-4g-lte-smart-hub.html) with band4, but finding somewhere to buy this seems to be a problem (either in argentina or europe)
Any of ye using 3g/LTE routers with external antennas (in areas with limited signal) or know where to get the Huawei B890-66?
Jonathan
