It seems to me that this site is populated by those under 40, mostly. I´m a bit lonely here right now. I´ve been taking classes in ESL, but unfortunately the others at the school are much younger than I. And even though I´m 50...trust me on this...I don´t look it and don´t ¨seem¨ to be. So where do I go to find some companionship...umm...if you get my drift...any suggestions would be welcome.

The audience on this site seems to be balanced, quite many people above 40 actually !

Your question comes in quite often, so basically you'll get two kind of answers depending on whether you are rather looking towards the nightlife or the daylight one.
Now, I don't guess your drift so I'll explore the two main ones

Daylight :
- Practice tango (there are many tango classes in every barrio)
- Cultural activities (The Malba museum provides with many activities, you can subscribe to their newsletter)
- etc etc...

Nightlife :
There are actually quite a few bars with music, discos attended by single women in-between 40-50. If you wish I can provide you with a few names.

To be fair there is a decent balance here. Many of the permanent ex-pat residents are older, while there is a good sprinkling of young'uns here for 6 months or so. Myself, I'm 52 and semi-permanent, and like to head out for a pint with other ex-pats on a regular basis - keeps me sane at times. When we arrange meet-ups, they are not age restricted, although we don't go off clubbing it, we usually meet in a bar that has decent beer, good craic, and chat for the night.

Last weekend we went out, there were around 10 of us altogether, I would guess that there were three of us over 50 (and young!), a couple in their 40's, two or three in their 30's, and also a couple of 20 somethings, so you can see a good mix.

Not sure what you are meaning by companionship, friendship, or partner seeking? With us lot we can certainly supply the former, and if it is the latter, we can point you in the right direction. Keep an eye out for our next trip out.

I'm a perma resident and have now reached 53. The age range seems to me to be a healthy spectrum.
I live out in the sticks, but would love to jump on the train to Retiro and grab a few beers in town with some of you.
Maybe that's what you should try wiley. There seem to be plenty of watering holes used by members of this forum. I read that Gibraltar bar is good.

Gibraltar bar is also good for 40-50 somethings, many of the regular crowd there are in that age reach. If you like shooting pool it's also easy to meet people.

Wed, Thur, fri and Sat can get a bit crowdy so if you don't like that go on diferrent nights

I think the food is good to but that depends on preference
