Hello!

I am an actress who is usually based for small films in new york city, alongside model work that pays the bills, however my partner has just been offered a job in Buenos Airies.

Of course, we are keen to go to explore a new place, but I need to be able to audition for any films and be acting on projects if I go, and I don't speak Spanish, so need English roles..

Is there any avenues for this? Is there a underground website or newspaper where I can browse any castings for acting work as such?

In new york - a lot of work is booked from strangers on the internet and while you always have to be cautious, it is really common to go and meet people for auditions and filming or shooting projects...if there is such a community and possibility for work here, is it safe to go about it in these ways, or is there perhaps agenies to approach instead?

Basically, is it possible as an english speaking actress to secure work?

Thanks for any knowledge on the matter,

Regards x

A friend of mine is an English actress who lived here for 6 years. If you pm me with your email I will pass it on to her...

Hi -
there are agencies here that look for English speaking actors - I think you should be able to look them up online. You might want to go through the lot and drop a line to each with your info. A lot of British, Canadian, and N American companies shoot here because its cheaper, so you're sure to find connections. There is also voice over work - I remember going for an audition years ago here... don't remember the name of the company - sorry - but again, there are avenues.

sorry I can't be more specific, but you'll find what you need if you dig a bit!

good luck

Hi! check out http://www.actoresonline.com/ or http://www.alternativateatral.com/ they both have good castings lists of course craigslist BsAs occassionally has a few things Goto my blog http://friendsoftheperformers.blogspot.com there is a page with alot of prod companies and agencies on it, I would reccommend sending your CV to them. Don´t worry about your Spanish, if they´re keen they will work with you on it (just learning lines after all) Oh and I think at the end of this post I said holler at me if you need a haircut, but the wardens edited the post...

Thanks so much for the links and advise. I'm getting very nervous - currently so many acting jobs posted over and over for NYC, London, LA, it seems fatal career wise to do this move, but now my partner has his job, I want to give it a try for a few months myself and see the place and explore.

If anyone knows any castings drop me a line - and I'll check out the links, thanks!
