Hi All

Airbnb is exploring a new service that many of you might be interested in providing. Here are some comments from an article:

Traditionally, we’ve come to know Airbnb as a place where guests find accommodations in unique spaces, and as a platform for hosts to make extra money by opening their homes up to strangers. But over the last few months, the company has been quietly testing out a platform for connecting visitors not just with places to stay, but with new offline “experiences” to try out while in town.[/background]
[background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]
Hidden away in the Airbnb site are a series of activities available in San Francisco and Paris, all of which are provided by various users of the platform. The experiences include a wide variety of guided tours around those cities, nature hikes and bike excursions to nearby areas, food and drink tastings, and classes thatare available for users to take part in.[/background]

In other words, you might develop a package deal for tourist that might include, as an example, a minitour of unique places in BA. Here are 2 links explaining this a bit more:[/background]

Here's my request to baexpats members. Start posting your ideas of unique experiences one could offer in BA, and have some of your entrepreneurs put together a package, price it, and request that airbnb post it on their new website. Maybe you'll become a tour operator and generate some nice pocket money for you, in dollars![/background]
[background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]
Here's the beginning of a list of experiences (please add to it) that one could offer in BA:[/background]
[background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]
1. A tour of popular restaurants in a neighborhood.[/background]
[background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]
2. A three night visit to bars where live music is played.[/background]
[background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]
3. ????[/background]
[background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]
Hope we can come up with a good list of "experiences" to enjoy BA.[/background]

I am sorry, but this corporate push rubs me the wrong way all around...it sounds like a monetary incentive to use locals to provide lazy tourists with an 'authentic' experience to post on their Instagram accounts. It takes more than three nights to know anything about BA in my opinion!

how about escort services to tourists ? is that legal ? :)

The best experiences come from exploring and meeting real people and friends, not people you've paid. Call me old-fashioned.

But let's see.... "unique" instagram/twitter worthy ideas....

A bumpy ride on a collectivo in provincia, over pothole ridden streets. (This was actually one of my first "experiences" here... back when the bus wouldn't come to a complete stop and you'd have to jump on or off while it was moving.)
A trip to Retiro post office or a bank - long lines must mean something worthwhile inside.
Maybe a run through a villa (either in a car, or on foot for added excitement)

I pass on hosting.
