Is anyone else dealing with severe sinus infection & what I'm guessing are allergies? Me & other NYers have had foggy center of forehead headaches, sore throat, dry cough, etc for over 2 weeks? Ive never been allergic to much but anyone know if there's regional pollen or histamines causing this?

Do you live anywhere near London Plane trees? Usually big with peeling bark. Their seeds often irritate.

No headaches here, but persistent dry cough and endless sinus drainage, yeah. Maybe a little longer than 2 weeks. It's getting really old, isn't it?

I'm a New Yorker. Never had allergies until I retired and moved to Florida. Then I started getting pretty sick with allergy symptoms during pollen season. I had several rounds of allergy tests for the 30 most common allergens but they did not detect any allergies. Since moving here I've regularly had allergy symptoms at this time of year. If you Google it you can find advice that will reduce the severity of the symptoms.

The Platano Oriental/ Oriental Plantain Tree introduced to Capital 100 years ago has Polen that flies all over the place . Many trees all along Santa Fe Ave. and Recoleta. A anti allergic pill helps.

Oriental plantain allergy is an allergic reaction that is caused by the pollen of this tree. The main symptoms are:
sneezing
Nasal congestion
teary eyes
Itch
Itching in the palate, pharynx and ears
Cough
To avoid allergy to oriental banana, it is recommended:
Protect your nose and mouth when going outdoors
Avoid outdoor activities during peak pollination hours, which are at dawn and dusk.
Keep windows and doors closed
Use air filters or ventilate during times of low pollination
An allergy to banana pollen usually lasts less than 20 days. To combat itching and airway congestion, you can take second-generation medications such as loratadine, levocitrizine, desloratadine, or epinastine.

There are many allergy sufferers here in Buenos Aires. The main culprits are grass and trees. Also weeds. I've been dealing with allergies since I was a child. Various symptoms and all annoying as heck.

Plane tree, not Plantain tree, and yes, the pollen they produce affects an awful lot of people. However, season for that is normally October / November, not summer like now. I happily evaded the plane tree pollen this season since I’d moved out of CABA.

In summer I’d expect grass pollen blowing in from the pampas to be the culprit.

Hello fellow New Yorker in exile. What's up with these allergy tests that find nothing... when clearly something is happening! Have tried a range of nosesprays even rinses with a few drops of baby shampoo as recommended by ENT. Nothing solved...

In Florida they believe in putting Hepa-filters on their a.c. to catch the pollen. Shampooing before bed (to get the pollen out) might help. I've only found one thing that works for sure, get to a beach and breathe ocean or river air.
