My wife and I are a retired couple (Kay was in banking, I a former winemaker) from San Francisco presently exploring the world while following the sun. We are currently in Malaga, Spain where we've spent the last three months. We have been traveling constantly now for just over two years using either Airbnb/VRBO or Booking.com to find our next 'residence'. We typically stay for periods of 1 to 3 months in a particular location. We are tired of paying the exhorbitant prices and fees they impose. We are presently looking for a place in Buenos Aires for a stay of one month - Mar 1 to Apr 1 - and are wondering if there are local agencies or websites we could use to find lodging and more reasonable prices. If anyone is able to point us in the right direction we would greatly appreciate it.

Howdy Rondinella,

Keep in mind many establishments promote on Booking because it's one the most popular web platforms here. Which is strange, because it's not even an Argentine company. You can usually save the booking.com commission (10-20%) by contacting the establishment outside the website and paying them directly. Be prepared however to have a form of payment other than international credit card. There are always cheaper places around as well, but it requires walking the town and inquiring (you can even tour the room in advance). This is however, not conducive to planning travel in advance.
