Another question about VISAs

My husband's tourist VISA has expired and we are headed to Uruguay next week. Will he need to go downtown or the airport and pay the fine first?
 
Are you flying or taking the ferry to Uruguay? Either way, he can pay the fine at Jorge Newbery or the ferry terminal.
 
How long are you planning to stay here? Because there is no reason to renewal your visa because to do it or to stay irregular is equally illegal.
It is better to pay the fine at the end or to apply for citizenship after 12 months of irregular living here depending on your life plan. Regards
