Curious if any member here can recommend a very good orthopedist or, if not, a generalist (who might himself know an orthopedist, etc.)

I'm looking above all for a doctor of intelligence and discernment, with good intuition; not a paid hack with cookie-cutter solutions.

Would be much appreciated, and I'd owe one to whoever recommended a good doctor.

I think it would help us if you could be a bit more specific...,doctors work here in specialties and within the specialties there are specialties!

Hello lacoqueta thanks for the reply; well I'm looking for a very good orthopedist but I'm thinking that even if people don't know one, if they know a good general practitioner they trust, that doctor might himself know a good orthopedist...

Hi PoloStar, I posted this on another thread on the topic. As I mention below, both were very quick, in retrospect maybe I liked Dr. Mereles more, he took a little more time. Both seemed good though. You can also google "mejor traumatologo de columna buenos aires" and see what comes up, there are some websites where people rate doctors. Good luck!!

I have been to see two different spine specialists, one of them was Dr. Mereles at the Hospital Italiano: http://www.hospitali...idpersona=11207 He was fine but each visit was very quick! Last year the initial visit was around 250 pesos without insurance.

Now I saw another specialist, Mauricio Carrasco, at Centro de Ortopedia y Traumotoogia Centenario, 4961-1825. I got an appointment there very quickly, so it might be worth calling them and asking what they charge without insurance ("en forma particular"). The doctor was fine but even quicker than the other one!

Thanks Noruega but based on what you say I'm not sure if these are good or people to avoid! You say they rushed you...did they correctly diagnose your problem? Offer any solutions, suggestions for other doctors, etc.?

Exact same diagnosis and suggested treatment, so I think they know what they are doing. In general it seems to me that doctors here are a little less "feel good" than in for instance the US. Hope others have suggestions!

With your attitude towards the medical profession , good luck finding someone . There are specialist for everything , like the whole world over. Leg ? Hip ? Neck ? Knee ? Shoulder ?

I know a great shoulder specialist , who trained with a good friend in the US who is the orthopedic doctor of the Detroit Pistons. Is the local Doctor good ? Probably the best in Argentina. I would not recommend him for spinal problems , but I am sure he knows someone.

What ails you ? Perhaps someone on this forum , like Noruega above , can help with a suggestion.
