As we all know there is a quarantine but today they are opening the banks for 5 hours . Turn on the television now and see the apocalytic scenes of 8 block lines outside many banks from Corrientes to Buenos Aires . This most vulnerable population the elderly are risking their lives as to be able to recieve their money . Over 50 percent of pensioners in Argentina do not use a debit card giving this a urgency as to be able to survive.

I am very disappointed in this approach to keep the banks closed as today has proven. If we have a curfew and are told to keep our distance how is it possible that due to shortsighted government policies they are helping to propagate the pandemic .

On the television now the lines are complete madness with less than half a metre between people and absolutely no controls in many banks . To top it off the banks are working on skeleton staff meaning that half of the line will not get served .

Open the banks Monday to Saturday and respect the social distancing !

Update .

The Banco Central due to the huge outcry from the tremendous scenes in the Argentinian banks will now open Monday to Friday for pensioners and discapitados only . Cajas de Seguridad will not be open nor other bank operations .

You said it...over 50% of the pensioners in ARG DO NOT USE a debit card.....by choice. Why have they consistently refused to even have in their possession their debit card in case of an EMERGENCY?

Update: Palazzo, head of the banking trade union says the banks will open Sat and Sunday as well by instruction of AF. "Clever" move....48 more hours to propagate the contangion among seniors and beneficiaries of the AUH.

Can someone answer why if the banks are open for permanent trading why are the cajas del seguridad closed . They can easily implement safety procedures for the bank employees and customers and allow the people access to their savings .

In Europe all banking operations are allowed . Argentina is bucking the trend and now that they are open it does not make sense .

Is that a real question? ARG's who have safety deposit boxes with cash in them are more organized as to when to access those funds. The debacle is happening in the Conourbano. Do you think that those folks have safety deposit boxes at a pop of $3500/ per month rental fee for a small box?

Banco de la Nacion should just make unnamed rechargeable debit cards and give them out to the pensioners instead of money. Tie the card to person's DNI during the first bank visit and put subsequent pension payments on the card.

There are many people who have in their caja de seguridad savings that they need to access for rental payments and emergencias. If the Banks can open they need to be for all clients . I do not understand why they cannot do the same as they have done everywhere in the world

I do agree that Pensioners must have precedence but if the banks are now open fulltime its very fast to organise as the sectores are seperated in banks with select staff.
