I have less and less time to keep up with international events these days. Aside from a huge work burden, a family life and too much time spent on this forum some days, I just catch bits and pieces here and there anymore. I saw an article on the front page again that piqued my curiosity and I was surprised to see the possible Chinese "colonization" that may be going on behind the scenes of Argentina's loan deal with China.

http://www.buenosair...cord-with-china

We're talking a couple of serious agreements that may include displacing Argentine workers with an influx of Chinese workers (not just technical specialists, but laborers as well) and special rules for those workers outside Argentine law, special treatment of China with regard to the foreign ownership of land restrictions, and overall the new type of colonization, or making of dependent states, that we all saw before, what Argentina so often blames Great Britain and the US for having done to ruin their poor country.

We may be seeing the same thing in the 21st century, first-hand. Argentina doesn't seem to be taking a deep breath after the RUFO clause expired on the bond situation and is apparently not making a deal that would free up Argentina to finance its own expansion, and even into markets (as mentioned at the end of the article) in Asia and the Middle East, teaming up with fellow Mercorsur countries and using their united front as effectively as the US, Europe, China, Japan, etc., to raise up their economy and raise so many people out of poverty.

Instead, it appears that the Argentine government is walking into an indentured servitude, or worse, with a power that isn't as forgiving as its previous "colonial devils". It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

BTW - somewhen before 2010 I believe, there was a visa program that was supposed to be targeted at Chinese workers to get permanent residency. i believe it was because of anti-rascism wording in laws or constitution that they couldn't make it effective only for Chinese nationality. I know a number of people who got residency through that program, which has since been cancelled. It was unofficially called the "Chinese Visa Program".

For you who are looking for a possible residency "in", I'm wondering if we won't see an immigration bill come through doing some kind of similar program in the next year, or maybe two if Cristina's party stays in power.

Oh yeah - and Argentina's deal with Russia for sending them food exports is a lease agreement on 12 Sukhoi Su-24 supersonic fighters to "patrol Port Stanley". Will there be war with GB? Will Cristina foment an emergency situation that requires she stay in the Pink House indefinitely? http://au.ibtimes.co...tina-russia.htm

Keep your eyes on the news...

While the Chinese lend money to build water damns, railroads, infrastructure in general to the benefits of all the population, the US lend you money so you can speculate, and do capital outflow back to the US leaving the population to pay insane interest and to starve to death (we all saw it back in the 90 and it did not end up well).

I take the Chinese "charity" any day.

Also, Argentina "deal" with Russia is just black thick smoke so the British can keep their military spending up in the Islands.

Also your post is full of assumptions and I quote "possible Chinese "colonization""; "may include displacing Argentine workers"; "it appears"; "i believe"; " It was unofficially called", no actual facts. It can not be taken seriously.

Will Cristina foment an emergency situation that requires she stay in the Pink House indefinitely?
Can you please expand that thought? Constitution says that a President can only be in office if reelected (8 years total), so how can she still be in power after December?

Good Lord you have dropped the K Kool Aid and started main lining the K heroin haven't you?

Because they can change the constitution at the drop of a hat, they have the power to do it and that's a party you are not invited to...... you just watch and agree.... or else :)

Sorry to tell you but you are very, very wrong. To change the Constitution you need 2 thirds of the congress vote, make a Law to declare the reform of the Constitution and the you have to call a REFERUNDUM NACIONAL.

Yeah, its totally impossible to stay in power after 2 presidential terms. Just like Putin was not able to run for president in 2008 and consequently left power. Oh wait...
