Argentina makes international news for...cops beating up old people.

I do love that the soccer fans have come out to support the retirees in these protests. The images aren't exactly heart-warming, I guess, but I appreciate the spirit of support.

Shooting rubber bullets indiscriminately into the peripheral plazas and sidewalks is not the allowances Bullrich was given by congress when the 2024 anti-picket laws were passed. In general not to be used for crowd dispersal needs.

When Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, was asked about Pablo Grillo, a journalist, who remains in critical condition after being shot by projectile in the head, she replied, “He’s a Peronist.”
She was then asked what that had to do with anything, and she remarked, “I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.”

What a world!!!

Beautiful use of irony there @julia_en_ruta if I may say so.
(Newbies might like to read the Wikipedia article on the barra brava <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barra_brava> especially the bit about two-thirds down which says: "They often provide services to political and union leaders who hire them as agitator groups (during rallies and mass meetings, that in Argentina traditionally have people chanting like football crowds, playing drums and even shooting firecrackers), goon squads (clashing with supporters of other political parties, unions or police during demonstrations, protests, rallies and strikes), bodyguards, etc.")
