Over the past year, I have often said that whoever wins Argentina’s Oct. 25 elections, including government candidate Daniel Scioli, will be much better than outgoing President Cristina Fernández. But after interviewing Scioli this week, I’m less optimistic about Argentina’s post-election future.

"On Venezuela’s refusal to accept international observers from the Organization of American States for the crucial Dec. 6 legislative elections, he said, “I am not going to interfere with a sovereign issue of the Venezuelan authorities.”

My single point of agreement with him.

Excellent Oppenheimer interview, (Fer'sure works for Magneto :D ), IMHO if Scioli wins most likely will be more of the same, or worse depending on the Viento de Cola o de Frente and the World Economic picture. Developments in China and Brasil and the Real.

Now if Macri wins he is Mislead to expect that by developing Good Will foreign investment will flock inmediately to Argentina ?. In order for that to happen the K clamp on the economy will have to be removed and will involve Congress where he will not have majority, so it may take quite a while to achieve. Furthermore at the this time when investors are exiting Developing Countries

It's curious as I'm reading Bad Times in Buenos Aires by Miranda France; she's writing about living here for a year in 1993 and didn't particularly enjoy herself.
Almost all the woes we bleat about today they bleated about then...crisis....thieves....things will get worse etc etc.
Remarkable really.

It can easily get worse ... Just imagine a Macri president with a judicialista dominated congress. Or a weak president Scioli losing grip ... Just wait.

Argentines have about us$300 billion stashed in foreign banks (dead money) and the AR government has to go hat in hand and borrow a paltry 1.5 billion from Russia to fund a money machine: Hydro electric dam. To say the government has a credibility problem within is an understatement. Just crazy.
