atlantida, uruguay recs

Hello all,

we are going to uruguay for 4 nights (flying in to montevideo) and a uruguayan friend has recommended staying in Atlantida.

does anyone have recs for places to stay? I'd prefer an apartment/cabana rental.

or, should we go to a different beach? we're going in two weeks so will still catch low season..

We drove around the coast of Uruguay for a week in July, and we found a great place to stay in Atlantida. It's called Paradise, and it's right across the street from the river. It has both cabins and apartments. The cabins are a little funky/rustic but clean, with full kitchens. Breakfast is included. Also, they have the most amazing indoor pool and huge hot tub. We had some cold nights while we were there, and you couldn't drag us out of that pool for anything.

That said, there's not a whole lot to do in Atlantida. Restaurant options in town are very limited. Piriapolis is also nice with more things to do and places to eat. Either way, I thought that entire stretch of the coast was beautiful and very peaceful.
