Banking Questions

hi. im new to the forum but ive been living in buenos aires for the past two years. does anybody have information on what is required to open a bank account? and which are the best banks. any first hand experiences would be most helpful. jack.

I have one Account in Banco Frances which is my Salary Account. Week ago I went to HSBC to open an other account, what I needed as told by the Manager:

1. 3 month's salary slip (recibo de sueldo)
2. 1 month of service bill Elec. Phone, or Internet with your name (if it is in name of Land lord you have to give them copy of Contract)
3. Have to have DNI (Temp or Perm)

Service charges of account are 50/- pesos permonth.

That's it. I suppose every bank will be asking you same, and if you don't have any of these you won't be able to open an account unless you are student.
