Hi folks. Someone told me that an overnight bus (cama) is a good way to travel from BA to Santiago Chile. Both cheaper than flying and some nice views of the Andes. Anyone have any experience of this and can recommend a company to me? Thanks

David, I did this trip many times in the past with Andes Mar, TAC and El Rapido Argentino. Andes Mar you must transfer in Mendoza other buses stop there but no transfer. If there is a delay you miss the Transfer...! You leave Retiro at 7 pm and arrive in Santiago about 4 PM.

From now to March no weather problems. You can Purchase the ticket at any Plataforma 10 outlet , like Alto Palermo.

Bon Voyage,

I travelled to Neuquen on the coach and although it was comfortable I dreaded having to make the return trip a few days later as I was bored to tears most of the time. You don't see anything during the many hours of darkness when you travel overnight.

I can just about manage a few hours on a bus during daylght hours but wouldn't dream of doing your trip when there is a decently priced flight option available.

Once youve done a few long cross country trips by bus they rapidly begin to lose their appeal especially across the pampas. Impossible to sleep well even in luxury class so you spend the next day feeling groggy instead of really enjoying yourself. Toilets on the bus or at stops almost always revolting. Worry about the safety of you possessions. The changarins/luggage boys will go through your bag pockets and you tip them at the end not knowing that they have pocketed your laptop charger! And do you really want to see that Adam Sandler or Dwayne Johnson movie again? I dont think so.

I think all things considered flying is better value even at twice the price.

Just last week I had a 5.5 hour journey in the so called luxury bus. It was disgusting!

I purchased a ticket on Sky airlines out of Chile. The BA/Santiago trip took an hour and cost all of $29!! Check out Sky on the Chilean site; it has some really good prices. The trip from Mendoza/Santiago on the bus is beautiful, granted, but from BA to MDZA is always overnight. SENDAS is a good bus to take and comfortable cama suite but it's expensive, of course, and $29 is still much cheaper! Do you have a DNI? Flying to Mendoza by buying the ticket is advance is cheaper than a coche/cama bus trip, and then taking the bus across the mountain for the scenery aspect is another option. I've done all of the above and I've gone about ten times so my favorite option is flying for $29.

Congratulations the normal trip takes 2:20 minutes....! Assume $29 is US dollars ?? perhaps you missed one Cero?? Can you give the link to buy this bargain...? The link below quotes $256 US dollars one way... or may be US$234 in another link

Nope, I'm talking $29 USD, or twenty nine dollars. The flight was in July of this year. Check out this link: https://www.skyairline.cl/es/index.aspx. Right now the priceis $49 and from Cordoba to Santiago it's $39 and from Mendoza to Santiago it's $29. Good luck!
