TripAdvisor status is worth more than its weight in gold. We were just in Mendoza where the hotel were we stayed was fighting tooth and nail to stay in the top position. The front desk manager emailed me to request that I write a review. Same thing in Rosario at another hotel where there was an actual TripAdvisor brochure printed out in the room. It's interesting to look at the dates in which reviews were made and the percentage of first / only time reviewers who have rated a business. I look more closely at what top contributors (people who have rated more than a certain number of locations) have to say, than what the rankings are. Rankings are pretty easy to game.
