I was curious if Tigre to Carmelo for the day was suitable for a visa run.

I read a few posts from a few years ago about angry customs, etc.

Does anyone know if it's ok these days to go and come back the same day?

And just to be sure, you can get a visa stamp at Tigre right (on reentry)

Thanks

Also, does anyone know if there are ATM's with US dollars in Carmelo?
Do they have a small withdrawl limit and high transaction rates?

Thanks

There are also more recent posts on the subject that should make it clear that there is no legal reason whatsoever to make a visa run.

And "customs" aka the "aduana" has nothing to do with visa stamps (which are issued by the Argentine migraciones officials).

You can find answers to questions about ATMs dispensing dollars in Uruguay by using the search engine.

I did this in January and absolutely loved it! I used this service:

It was super cheap - from the top of my head 450 pesos for a return. I stayed just one night in Carmelo but absolutely loved it! It is very peaceful, so depends what you like. I stayed at Ah Lo hostel:

It is beautiful and just opened up in December 2014, so incredibly clean and new.

The only slight downside to the trip was I couldn't get any USD's with my card - although there are at least three cash points in Carmelo. It didn't bother me too much as I use Azimo to get my money at the blue rate anyway - have you heard of it? Check it out:

Hope that helps!
