Hey hey everybody! I've been in BA for almost 2 months now and I'm looking to get in a little gambling. I'm hoping this thread can turn into a spot to learn about all the different casinos in Buenos Aires...what nights to go to which...table limits and games...etc. So I will post a few questions I generally ask before going to a casino...and anyone feel free to add more questions or provide us with your knowledge of casinos around the area!!!

1. What are the most popular casinos in Buenos Aires? Names? Locations?

2. If you have ever been...do you know the different table limits (max/min) that they have at each casino? Does it vary depending on the night? (I know it does in Vegas...so just curious)

3. What different games are offered at the casinos? (I am a craps guy personally...but always willing to try something new!)

4. Does anyone know if you can exchange currency at the casinos (dollars, euros, etc.)

5. Most importantly...does anyone know if there is ever any issues with cashing in your chips...corruption/security issues...anything of the sort??

6. LASTLY!!! Does anyone else enjoy going to the casino?!!! (In my experience...girls are ALWAYS the luckiest rollers at a hot table...so if any are out there that enjoy the casino atmosphere...let's go!!!)

Feel free to post anything and everything you may know about casinos in BA! Thanks!

I'm not crazy about casinos (stats play against you, I like to have the opportunity to win on the long term). But I like hold'em hence I investigated a bit.

1. You have one in Puerto Madero on a boat, and another one on Libertador at the "Hippodromo". There is one too in Tigre (outside of town)

2. No idea. I've been to Vegas once & know a bit about there. Strictly nothing to compare with. I'd guess that here (just to give you an example about Hold'em tables), the max limits (in US$) would be 20/40 US$ (for a Texas Hold'em table) = adjust for your craps games

3. I guess all the usual casino games

4. you can exchange foreign currencies but the exchange rates suck badly (expect 3.60 to 1 when you'll get 3.95 to 1 in the best BA place)

5. No worries about security but always watch out (had a problem once playing Hold'em in Pilar, outside the City). Security leaving the casino is even better (no worries at all)

6. well, good luck with girls bringing luck at the casino!

Thanks a lot French... I really appreciate it! Actually...tomorrow is my birthday...so I plan on going to check out at least one casino...probably the famous river boat casino in Puerto Madero...I've heard the best things about this place. Just wondering if anyone knows some more details about it??

I don't exactly have loads of money to spend on gambling...but I think it is a really fun thing to do on your birthday so I am going either way haha...if anyone has information on the limits there...or if there is another place in Puerto Madero that has some cheap table limits for Craps... I would greatly appreciate it!!!!

Thanks!!! Hope to hear some good responses...or any for that matter! Ciao!!!

i've been here for a year and a half, and i hate the casinos here (for an obvious reason). haha but they have blackjack games with a six deck shoe in the bottom boat (limits 10-200 pesos). The other boat has tables with the machines and they are set with a 500 limit. Whether or not you win is based upon how loose they set the machines.

I think they STRAIGHT UP set odds to steal your money. For some reason i keep going back though, thinking i can beat the odds.

My advice is to go to the casino in puerto madero...have a GREAT TIME!! but dont' throw down more than 5 pesos a hand and you'll go home happier!! If you want to try and beat the odds by betting the max, you can join me at the bar crying about how we should have played it differently later.....
