Casinos

I always wanted to go, but never did. Would you guys trust a casino in Argentina?

Ask the "Hombre Internacional" heard, he is back in the land, previously he apparently lived in the Casinos..
Not sure if in Argentina depite.

Anyone been to any of the Casino's here? Any recommendations?

Been to any of the casino's what? Okay, I'll be nice.

I go to various casinos regularly, and enjoy them more than the Vegas experience - because, in Argentina, I win. The casino in Santa Fe is the best I've been to. It's non-smoking, and an experienced player can do very well there.

Any poker competitions going on? I've played online a bit and with mates but could maybe try my luck at winning some money.

I've got a small debt i need to pay off you see.

I haven't heard about anything coming up, but I'm not really connected. If you're a decent player you can probably do pretty well at the average table - I've seen some pretty sorry players in ARG who thought they had it going on.

Yeah, I know a couple of guys who have played a bit in Puerto Madero. They tell me the majority of Argentinos play from the heart, not the odds. Makes for good winnings for someone who understands the cards a bit.

If you want to play for fun - enjoy. But if you want to make money, forget it. Yes, players are horrible here, but you'll never make a good hourly rate: limits are low, it's live so you probably play 20-25 hands only an hour, and the rake is 5% uncapped on every pot... There are bigger (for Argentina standards) tournaments like twice a year, but even there you get f***ed as there is a pretty high tax for foreigners on winnings in addition to the high fees. Unfortunately, even for fun, Argentine casinos are not high in my list as you cannot expect Vegas style comps/free drinks/food.

The first casino I went to anywhere in the world was in Mar del Plata. We were bored and it was kind of chilly outside, so we wanted an indoor activity. I had fun and even won 100 pesos (not too shabby in 2011) from a slot machine, which I promptly spent on drinks. Woo! In BA I went to the one in Palermo, which was also really fun. It was bigger and nicer than the one in Mar del Plata, but again, this was a few years ago now. I never thought I'd enjoy casinos, but it turns out they're basically arcades for adults. A lot of people, including myself, got dressed up to go to these places, but then there are always the poor souls in jeans and a windbreaker who are hunched over at the same slot machine all night and obviously suffer from a gambling problem.
