Being a little new to this process I'm somewhat uncertain.

Where is the best place to change Pesos into US Dollars? Do all banks do it? Are there any limits as to how much you can change in one transaction?

Any advice appreciated. New landlord insists on payment in dollars.

I'm not sure if there are any restrictions on foreigners, but yes, there is a limit according to the bank you are changing them. For example, the casa de cambio "Banco Piano" changes up to 7000 dollars (you need your ID and a credit card or a health insurance card on your name)

Go to a casa de cambio, not a bank.

You can also nicely ask your landlord if s/he will accept the equivalent of the cost in dollars in pesos with perhaps a bit extra to cover the conversion costs from pesos to dollars if this is an ongoing rental.

I think as foreigner you can change up to u$s5000 per month.

http://www.dolarhoy.com - lists the rates at the various cambios

Also, I've never been asked for ID when changing money at the cambio, so I doubt they have any actual limits.

I know when I was sending money here from Australia (to Western Union in BA) that there was a limit to how much my girlfriend could pick up in US dollars - at the time she was told a maximum of 7000 US dollars for a transaction...
