I checked on fares from Seattle to Buenos Aires and got a notice that it would be about 1000 dollars less to fly from Vancouver. Looking around a bit I see that it's possible to fly for under 1000 dollars from Toronto to EZE. Why is the price so different?

I know the Canadian dollar is somewhat low compared to its US counterpart, but it's still about 50% cheaper to originate in Canada than from the US from what I have seen.

This is often the case. By no means always, but it happens plenty.

Canada is a completely different market and prices are often drastically different.

It can equally be the other way around. I've made people tickets from here to Buffalo - was an order of magnitude cheaper than flying to Toronto, 90 minutes drive (or 2 hours' bus ride) away.
Same for Seattle/Vancouver.
