So I have been here a while and have talked to some other expat friends about the differences dating here compared to other countries and i thought it would be interesting to hear some of your thoughts...

So what are some of the things that you find different about dating here compared to other places you have lived? How do men in women in relationships relate differently? How is the dating process different? How are dates different?

Tell me everything

Thanks! but i was also hoping to get some fresh perspectives as some of those threads are over 3 years old

If you have the mind set of cooking, cleaning and tidying up after argentine men and making them feel like royalty in return you get an ultra caring, courteous good looking man who knows how to look after woman, doesn't spend too much time on the booze and is generally rough, tough and super manly.... No competition really.....

From my experiences I know that Argentine women are very, very, very insecure, hysterical, childish and dependent when it comes down to getting to know somebody. It doesn't matter how many degrees she has: high educated are the same as those without education here. I heard the same applies to men.

Just remember that prostitution is legal in Argentina. Many of them are drop dead gorgeous and not at all expensive compared to the pros in Europe or the USA...

...and even the most caring, courteous, and good looking Argentine man who knows how to "look after" his woman may also like (if not feel entitled to) having as many on the side as he can (by the hour with a professional is the easiest way for a rough and tough Argentine man to have all he wants, can afford, or get away with. There are many motel rooms available by the hour throughout Argentina (there's even one just outside my "village").

It's a "super manly" thing...and it hasn't changed recently.

It's not legal, it's considered as illegal as a speeding ticket. But no one will say or day anything since all the major hotels allow prostitutes into their premise and even many have arrangements with local "cabarets". I'm not sure what you mean by cheap, because they can charge anywhere from $1,000 pesos to $3,000 pesos.

I seriously doubt that hotels are the reason the profession is "tolerated" in BA. Most motels (the ones rented by the hour) cater to married Argentine men and their girlfriends as much if not more to men with hookers. The best place to find a hooker in BA isn't in a cabaret. Its in a whiskey bar, such as the two in Recloeta on Pueyrredon. In 2006-2007 the rate was $200 pesos. In 2009 it had gone up to $400 pesos for the hour and there were "habitations" available upstairs at no extra charge. The girl and the client actually have to exit the bar and go upstairs through a separate entrance on the street. Last time I checked on line the escort websites like Platynum and Gemidos had a lot of independent girls advertising. It is illegal to operate an escort service but I've never heard of prostitution being illegal. If it is the law certainly isn't enforced (even as much as those against speeding).

Only a few of the ladies ever published prices on the web Those that do are typically in the $800 range for the hour (at least the last time I looked). That's just about right compared to a can of peaches (also now three to four times the 2006 price). Only tourists (aka stupid foreigners) pay anywhere near $2000 to $3000 and asking that much doesn't meant the client will pay that much (certainly not Argentine men who take women to motels not hotels). I consider peaches in Argentina expensive today, but not the girls. In Bahia Blanca the rate is about $400 pesos at "houses" that are well staffed. For an additional $100 pesos they will come to a residence.

High class hookers in US and European cities charge $1000 to $3000 dollars and or euros. They are (on average) less attractive than the professional escorts in BA.
