I went to the drug store to inquire about getting the Flu vaccine.
They asked me if I had PAMI. I said no. With PAMI the flu shot is free.
Without PAMI it's $225 pesos. When I landed here I went to work for an American co. for three years.
I have a cuit / cuil number. Dual citizenship. DNI. So how do I get PAMI,... or do I have to qualify ?

Vacunacion Antigripal 2017
La vacuna es gratuita y obligatoria en Hospitales Publicos y Centros de Salud porteños para las personas incluidas en los grupos de riesgo.

Availability of vaccine (free) may have been exhausted by now.

RodolfoWalsh.....Isn't it kind of late to get a flu shot?

http://www.who.int/influenza/vaccines/tropics/vaccination_timing/en/

....countries where the primary influenza activity starts after April.....In order to be most effective in countries with multiple peaks and residual year-round activity, WHO recommends that the seasonal influenza vaccine should be given prior to the start of the primary period of increased influenza activity.....

I got what I think was the flu in April... can I consider that a free flu shot? Or is getting a flu shot better than getting the flu, for future immunity?

Its a complex question. There are different types of flu floating around. The govt guesses at which strain is most likely to be the biggest problem and the pharma companies manufacture a vaccine against that strain.
You don't know which strain you had, if any. Or which vaccine would be appropriate to use now that you have (maybe) some antibodies already in your system.

If you have no other health plan, you can sign up for the free plan offered to residents in the city. I wrote about Coberatura Portena de Salud here -- http://baexpats.org/...indpost__299296

These are the requirements to sign up for PAMI and I wrote about it on the forum.

8. I'm over 70, don't collect benefits or have a health plan. What do I need to have benefits with this institution? What documentation do I need to present?

* your DNI with current address
* ten years minimum residency in the country
* proof from ANSES that you aren't receiving retirement benefits.
* proof of no affiliation to Obra Social de Buenos Aires
* your affiliation has to be renewed annually

A friend who usually gets his annual flu shot at Hospital Muniz where his sister works on staff recently told me that the Estaciones Saludables around the city are giving free flu shots.
