Looking for an estancia within 2 hrs driving distance from BsAs. I have a toddler and I want to bring my large, well-behaved dog. Is that possible? Preferrably some kind of town nearby or whatever. Not really sure what to expect or what goes on at an estancia!

For a distinctive historic estancia, consider Los Talas (http://www.hacerenlu...-las-talas.html) near Luján. Not sure about dogs, you'll have to ask them. It's very quiet, low-key, not luxurious. You can see a few more details at http://www.estanciasargentinas.com/estancias/estancia-de-la-tradicion/estancia-de-la-tradicion.php

My guests visited this place last week and loved it. It was reasonably priced too...

We use www.mascotasok.com to reserve lodgings when travelling about. Served us well in the province, santa fe and cordoba.

Ps..off topic, but if anyone is ever travelling with a dog, or cat I guess, to Rosario I highly recommend Apart hotel CetroReal.

Not sure about pets , but Villa Ave Maria in Tandil is great.

Nothing is trustworthy on Trip Advisor, which is a scam where hotels and other businesses promote themselves without revealing it.

I've had success with Trip Advisor (and other websites with user reviews) but it requires a little work. Read the negative reviews not the glowing reviews. Read the latest reviews, not the 'most helpful'. If you find an interesting review look at what other reviews this reviewer has written to see if he just commented on this one hotel or perhaps always gives very positive or negative reviews.

Crowd-sourcing sites like Trip Advisor are questionable at best, fraudulent at worst. Better to read reviews by knowledgeable specialists.
