I am planning to move to BsAs next year when I retire. As I have sufficient income I am going to apply for residency as a retired person. One requirement I understand is proof that you are bringing money into the country regularly, so I will be wiring money to an Argentine bank account from my account in Canada. I recently heard a second-hand story of banks charging 15 to 20% over the official exchange rate for that kind of thing. Can anyone with direct personal experience of doing this kind of thing confirm or deny this story? I am concerned as I can't afford to pay 20% over the odds on my limited retirement income! The story I heard involved euro transfers, but I would like to hear form anyone wiring any currency.
