Hello.
I´ve been in Buenos Aires since early 2009, and am currently working as a freelance ESL/EFL teacher. However, as much as I do like interacting with students and teaching, it´s not stable, the hours are long, and the commutes all over the city are exhausting! I am looking for a way to hopefully leave this area of work.
The "problem" that I have is that ever since I started working (during college and afterward), all my experience has been in the field of education (I have a BA in secondary education and a Master´s in ESOL education)... I invested a lot of time and energy into this area, only to find out that it ultimately isn´t for me...
This creates a challenge since I´ve been actively looking for another type of job (any- except a call center/sales!)... My Spanish is quite good, I´m more than willing and eager to learn and pick up a new skill/trade, but it´s so darn difficult to get my foot in the door for someone who could give a former teacher a chance.
Does anyone by chance know of a resource or a contact for someone who is looking for an entry level job (I´ve exhausted Craigslist and Justlanded.com)? I´ve got my residency, so it would hopefully be for long-term and wouldn´t necessarily have to be "en negro" (?).
Any and all advice is absolutely appreciated!
