Hello expats (or Argentinians),
I am an independent new media journalist (video / blog / photo) looking for a producing partner to help chase and bag good leads in Buenos Aires and the rest of the country. I'm interested in developing a good creative partnership to produce counter culture and offbeat pieces in the vein(s) of Vice Magazine Rolling Stone, Adbusters, Mother Jones hell let's throw Esquire in there too (circa 1961-1970), you never know...
Influences include:
- Hunter S. Thompson
- Chuck Klosterman
- Tom Wolfe
- Tim Cahill
- Michael Lewis
- And maybe Hemingway but only when he was powerfully drunk
A keen sense of humor and a profound grasp of the cosmic irony are a must (along with some journalistic experience). I'm ambivalent about all other qualities (age, gender, fashion sense) however persons having a strong command of the Spanish language would be an ideal asset as my castillano is horrendous and often earns me the ire of the locals soon after I open my mouth (I'm working to improve).
Any and all commissions earned from articles / videos published would be split right down the middle and conversely all monies expended in the pursuit of reporting would be shared likewise. I would also be interested in perusing international stories if the hook is there and the expenses can be kept to a minimum.
Currently in my armory I have:
- 1 MacBook Pro 13in. travel friendly and encased in a bullet proof hardtop ready for the heaviest kind of action.
- 1 Canon 60D DSLR with 15-85 USM lens capable of shooting 11minutes of uninterrupted 1080p HD video - and sound along with photos of course (also accessories - microphone, tripod etc)
- 1 Canadian Passport- recently updated and stamped repeatedly from various locals in the great American Sur.
- 1 Goucho Knife carried in the back of my pants, rarely used but often flashed for threatening purposes.
- A clean criminal record- barring one municipal infraction for selling alcohol without a license in the year 2003.
-1 persistent life philosophy that only seems to deepen as I get older, namely that life deserves to be lived on the EDGE by finding other people already living there and perhaps a few who have stepped over it.
