Recently, I've been shopping for items to decorate the galpon (outbuilding) that I'm converting into an estancia style guest house.

Here's an interesting item I found on ML this morning. Does anyone know what it is?

Hint: it measures 9 x 5 x 5 cm, is priced at $400 pesos, and would be used by a gaucho (and/or their kids).

It's possible to find interesting things on ML, for someone who has a "good eye". It could even be a full time job (browsing about 4/5.000 ads brings about one decent result).

I'm having much better luck than that, but I shop in specific categories and use filters to find what I'm looking for.

Here's a "perchero" I bought this morning (it has already been shipped):

And here's an "arana antigua de bronce con tulipas de alabastro" that I found searching in Iluminación Antigua, I bought it last Saturday and it arrived today in perfect condition. I only buy from sellers who have 98%-100% calificaciones positivas.

After thoroughly searching the categories I am most interested in, I can return to ML on a daily basis and click on "mas opciones" (in the box in the upper left corner of the page displaying the search results) and see the items " comienzan hoy" (beginning today). That never takes much time.

The biggest category I initially had to search was Antiquidades > Decoración Antigua >otros. That took several hours, but it was a lot easier than going to dozens of antique shops (and a lot more pleasant than having someone hovering over me as I browsed).

I found this bronze "adorno" on ML tonight (and wonder if anyone thinks it's a good likeness of Argentina's most famous first lady):

The seller has rusty and dented Argentine patentes that are priced higher than this bust...

I LOVE MercadoLibre and use "Comienzan hoy" all the time! I don't have pics on this computer of my favorite finds but might share later.
