Hi,

Does anyone know where or who I could contact to buy a push cart for selling food from. I'm looking for one similar to the hot dog ones in New York. It needs to have a freezer or some way to store ice cream in it.

I would really really appreciate your help with this. I'm guessing it would have to be custom made, but any help would be be great!

Thank you!

Hey ST Elmo Franco!

If you do decide to roll with a food cart, be sure to create a cool twitter handle. Back when I was in SF, the best food carts were able to get a following of their biggest fans. Then no matter which block they would open up shop, they'd be able to keep the loyal fans coming and also attract new customers.

You can check out this link on SF Chronicle with a geo-targeted map of all the food carts, http://www.sfgate.com/foodcarts/. Good luck!

Do a sketch and a rough plan and get a handyman to make one for you. There's almost nothing you can't get made here from car parts to parrillas.
Very resourceful people the Argentines.

Likely it would be cheaper having it done in the provincia. There's an herreria in the small village (manuel alberti) nearby my house. If you have a sketch of what you want, I can ask for a presupuesto if you wish

That is a very cool link. Unfortunately a Twitter link in BA will guide the motochoros directly to you.

maybe do you need some kind of licence if you want to operate on the public domain/the street ?

EDIT : for your info (maybe you already know about it), Law 1166 of the gobierno porteno requires a licence to sell food in the streets

(a few newspaper articles talk about those issues but incorrectly refer to "law 1.116", damn journalists)

Motochorros use twitter?

Yup. & read & write in English too.

As for your cart, I'm sure I 've seen popcorn carts, so I looked up carreta pochoclo and found the site below. The don't seem to have any fridge/freezing sections. But if you tell them you want an ice cream carreta maybe they can make one for you.

Do I win something??? :D

Motochorros are not stupid people. They are criminals and often use text, cell and etc to set up a grab. Some wear suits.
