Does anyone know any foreign born person who found a government job in Argentina? Some foreigners with permanent residency, perhaps married to an Argentine and raising Argentine children?
I have my doubt anyone does?
I can tell you from first hand knowledge that back in the states, there are foreign born legal residents working for the government at the local, state, and federal level. Heck, we even have foreign born elected officials.
Not here it seems. We can joke about whether I want to be mayor of some small town or not, but its impossible, isnt it. Government jobs are for white Argentines who have friends and connections. No one else. And if any foreign born legal resident has their own views of how local govt. should be run then they shout "go back to your country!" I cant tell you how many times that has been the response (to bad service, shoddy merchandise, my building consorcio, anything).
If I said that to the foreigners back home, it would raise more than a few eyebrows. Well, I brought up more than one issue. I wanted merely to ask, or vent, why is it so off limits getting a govt. job here.
