Founder of OLX: "In 1994, the Merval was worth 40% of the Brazilian Bovespa. In 2021, it is only worth 2%"

"In business, a unicorn is a privately held startup company valued at over $1 billion. The term was coined in 2013 by venture capitalist Aileen Lee, choosing the mythical animal to represent the statistical rarity of such successful ventures". From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicorn_(finance)

Back when I worked for a startup company the VCs said that 9 out of 10 companies they invested in would fizzle out or go bust, they would make their money on the 1 surviving company (that was also their justification for disadvantaging all the other shareholders). In that context, a unicorn is clearly very desirable for VCs. Wikipedia references even rarer animals as well.

There are lots of highly intelligent and entrepreneurial Argentines. Imagine how many more OLXs, Despegars and MercadoLibres there would be the country was not so incredibly mismanaged and so hostile to businesses.
