Looking for Recommendations on Hardwood Flooring Pricing

Hey everyone, I’m looking for references on the cost of installing hardwood and engineered hardwood flooring per square meter. If you’ve done hardwood flooring recently, do you have a pricing guide for installation and materials?

I’ve been quoted 18 million for 75 sq meters, which seems double what I expected. Does this sound right? Any insights or referrals would be greatly appreciated!

I would say you're looking for a niche product, and the price reflects that. Here most people would use "porcelanato" or "porcelanico", which can, of course, have a woody textured finish. At the bottom of the market is "ceramico", ceramic tiles that can discolour when they absorb water, and are also hellishly slippery when wet.

That's a crazy price considering a box of nice tile will cost you $45,000 for 2 square meters (35 boxes for 75 square meters for $1,575,000). The property we bought in Neuquen has wood flooring. Some commented to us that it was antiquated and recommended tile to replace it. But we decided to restore it instead, and it came out great. I think there's a reason that concrete and tile are dominant in Argentina and wood is dominant in Chile. The access to lumber and skilled carpenters.

In my opinion, @Ries is probably the member best positioned to advise you about this. If he doesn't pop into this thread soon, why not send him a DM?

Several apartments I know in Buenos Aires have solid wood parquet floors - including ours. They are more common in older apartment buildings - including ours. I have no experience of installing these floors - they were already there - but they do need to be maintained and our floors have needed sanding and revarnishing twice in the past twenty-or-so years.

From what I understand the once standard parquet wood floors just aren’t done anymore
